Arizona Plates
I have heard cars with AZ plates have been pulled over for no reason and shaken down for mordida. Can anyone confirm this?

I have heard cars with Mexico plates have been pulled over no reason in Arizona and been shaken down for deportation. Can anyone confirm this?
(sorry- couldn't resist. And no, I personally have not heard of AZ plates being specifically targeted in Baja more than anyone else.)

zonies... lol. I was with a couple from Arizona and at some point the term "zonies" was used. She had not heard that term before. When said we
were from San Diego, she said "Are you Dego's then?" We cracked up and her husband rolled his eyes at her. I don't think she got the joke (and we
aren't Italian anyways).

I go about every other weekend from my home in AZ to San Felipe, and I have not had any issues. In fact, I had a cop south of Mexicali follow me for
the longest time. And I just kept waiting to get pulled over, but he eventually turned around when we went from 2 lane to 1 lane sout of the town.
Last weekend I noticed that the Federalies, yes David K it is spelled wrong, but they were pulling over semi trucks, like crazy

I have had friends with both Arizona and California plates pulled over in Mexicali for no reason. Arizona friends paid 100.00 for speeding. Our
friend with the CA plates was also pulled over for "speeding". I was right behind him and he had just gotten up to 40k (from a red light) in a 60 K
zone when pulled over. He insisted on going to the station and the police officer let him go....so, don't worry, it doesn't matter what plates you
have...some Mexicali police only care if you have US plates.  Just go and if you are pulled over insist on going to the station!

OK, within the last few months I have been asked where I'm from, despite my one rear Arizona license plate staring them in the face, at checkpoints.
Nobody down there cares. Not a bit. Nada. Have fun...the only prob has been "Where's your front plate?!!" Only once, and explained to the cop no
mordida

We have never had any trouble with our AZ plates on the vehicles. As long as you aren't doing anything stupid, you won't have a target on your car.

I do not know what this thing is about posting on Mexicali cops, as I go 2 times or more a week at times down there and not once pulled over. They do
have sort of a speed radar thing going as you are traveling down the border fence towards the U.S.A. checkpoint at about the La Voz newspaper area.
You can clearly see the newspaper building as you approach it along the fence. The seem to be pulling over cars from Mexicali but having said that
just be careful of your speed in this area. Note the speed does change about twice in this area, I just do not at the moment remember them. Take Care
