that Boleo bakery is outstanding...best in baja by far....and they have fantastic whole wheat french type long bread thingies too.
The Bakery in GN is also excellent but very hard to find...I suggest getting a kid to take you there then buy him some doughnuts!!!

Mago's Coffee and Sweets in Mulege
Across from the Super Agua 2000. Real espresso etc, and she bakes everyday. You can request items or have cakes made to your specs. Very tasty.
I especially like the White Russian iced coffee. Mmmmm.

In Cabo, there is La Princessa. Muy bueno. Love their "ratoncitios"...kind of like a cheesecake (which they also sell).
The only thing I don't like from the bakeries is the donuts...not at all like the good old US version!
Oh yea, La Princessa will even come to you in their little van playing the "pan" song... at least it comes by our neighborhood in 4 de Marzo.

If you are traveling that far south (Santa Rosalilla) and have a fondness for Mexican bakeries, I think you are obligated to make a stop at Panaderia
El Boleo, for historical purposes if nothing else. This place has long been mentioned in guidebooks, articles and other tourist info as an exceptional
bakery. My wife makes me stop there every time we travel through.

This is for you Windgrrl as I know that you spend alot of your Baja time in Los Barriles. That said there is a family in La Paz that delivers all
types of baked goods to the RV parks in Barriles every week.
They bake all night and deliver fresh in the a.m. and I am here to tell you they are fresh and every bit as good as anything you can get NOB. Last I
knew they were at Verdugos on Fridays but that could have changed, just ask around. They are a little more money for the delivery but not as much as
if you had to go to La Paz to get them By far the best pastrys I have had in Mexico.
Just don't buy the apricot frutas, they are bad, I mean really ...Really bad..
Buy twice as many as you think you want, they vanish fast!

If you're in Ensenada, Hogaza Hogaza is the place to stop. Great breads and pastries. It's located at 6th and Miramar, in the row of shops next to the
Santo Tomas winery.

Mmmm...thank you all! There is just something wonderful about finding a good bakery. I have noted your recommendations on my map.
This bakery thing all started when we were on our first trip down. In '88, we left Alberta in -35 weather on a 2-week vacation in an old VW camper
headed for the end of the Baja peninsula. We had no idea of how long it would really take and somehow decided to just go to San Felipe.
The San Felipe bakery, with cinnamon buns and hearty bread was a welcome discovery. In a trip to La Ventana in '01, a nice couple would share their
chocolate macaroons on return from their La Paz tours and make the day for us. Last year, I stumbled across a lovely bakery just off the central plaza
in San Jose and stocked up on bolillos and - yup - giant macaroons!
Yes, we are returning to Los Barriles for the 9th time, but this time, we are driving again. As we are vegetarians, we often go foraging through town
for home-cooked food. We have enjoyed the wares of the travelling tamale vendors and one nice lady made vegetarian to order for us. I always keep my
eye out for the deliveries to the grocery store and that elusive churro stand and will want to get to know the ways of Oscar the vegetable seller.
Did someone say espresso? Windgrrl is fueled by espresso!
Have a great day!

You have to try the French bakery/espresso bar in San Jose! The best butter croissants west of Paris!! One short block south of the church, on the NE
corner. Also Gelati, baguettes, sandwiches. Wow!!! We ALWAYS bee-line there.
There used to be a vegetarian restaurant at the Abba Ranch trailer park, east of Hwy 1, towards Santa Rosa. Don't know if they are still there, but
ask around.
Hope this helps.
