Tecate-Ensenada Road

Last I heard there is about 20 miles of construction going on - We went through in August and don't want to get caught in that again. Any one with a very recent report? Also, we plan to take Blvd 2000 on the way home if there is still construction. If I recall there is no direct turnoff from the toll road to Blvd 2000. Is that correct and if so would you advise getting off the toll road before or after the Blvd 2000 on ramp in Popotola?
thx

Take the Puerto Nuevo off ramp and go north on the free road.

Dennis, is the Puerto Nuevo on ramp/ off ramp open?
It was still closed a couple of months ago... making Cantamar the closest exit south of Popotla.

We are heading south tomorrow and will post a report on our route to El Rosario via Otay & Blvd. 2000 upon our return.

I was there last weekend, and the Puerto Nuevo off-ramp from southbound and northbound toll road are open
However...one still can not enter the toll road from Blvd 2000 either NB or SB. Closest toll entry point is in Cantamar, about a mile below Puerto Nuevo.
And if you are that close, head down to KM 52 and have lunch/dinner at SPLASH. (K52 is right at the "HALF WAY HOUSE" building), and there is a toll road entry point/exit at K52.:bounce:

"the Puerto Nuevo off-ramp from southbound and northbound toll road are open"

"Closest toll entry point is in Cantamar, about a mile below Puerto Nuevo."

???: Udo, you confused me... Puerto Nuevo is closer to the Blvd. 2000 than is Cantamar... OR is it (like you say) the OFF ramp OFF the toll road is open... BUT, you cannot get ON the toll road at Puerto Nuevo, but instead need to go on south to Cantamar??? :light:

I just drove it day before yesterday. Still tons of construction....took us about 1.5 hours from Ensenada to Tecate. The border wait was worth it though to me - took only about 20-25 minutes.

Everybody has kind of lost me here. I assume the poster is going northbound on the toll road. The "Rauls" off ramp from the toll road has never been closed. O.K. once I saw it blocked but no problem!! I justed passed the off ramp and drove backward down the on ramp and got on the free road northbound!!
But I must admit, if you are northbound and not sure, just exit at Cantamar!!

Was on it Friday... took photos... trip report coming...

Cross into Mexico and drive straight 1.1 miles to main cross street (Blvd. Industrial)... Turn left (signed for Tecate Cuota/ Mexicali/ 2-D) Go about 5 miles and fork right onto Blvd. 2000... However, they are now calling it Corridor 2000.

Blvd. (Corridor) 2000 in excellent shape, the 110 kph speed limit was fun and easy all the way to Hwy. 1 at Popotla.

Came home today on the 2000 from Hwy. 1 and took the Tecate free highway (Mex. 2) to Tecate border... fast and easy, as well.

There is a signed 'on-ramp' overpass about a half mile southof the border... for Tecate... I missed it, and kept going straight (as in past trips) and sure enough another set of signs for Tecate and Mexicali...

I don't know were that new overpass to Tecate joins into Blvd. Industrial... but the old way is fast and straight other than the one left turn.
