El Rosario
I am contemplating work/bisnuss opportunity in and around El Rosario. Is there anything I need to know about this place? Do I need a heads up?

You need to go there... it probably isn't what you think it is. How did you pick El Rosario for such a quest?

working as a purchasing agent for an existing outfit. have worked in deserts of nevada, california and new mexico, 40 years.

DavidK is right - come down, get to know the area, the people, the business community, climate and then you will be the best one to judge for yourself
how well the area matches up to your expectations / needs. really pretty hard for any of us here to size that up for you only knowing that you have
worked as a purchasing agent in Nevada.
Do you have legal status to work in Mexico?

WON'T GO WITHOUT IT. I DO UNDERSTAND MOST OF THE REQUIRMENTS. THESE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN EXPORTING OUT OF MEXICO LEAGELLY FOR YEARS. NOT A YEAR'ROUND

Here is what I can tell you from my experience...
It is a sleepy little town of maybe a thousand people, maybe more depending on how far out into the country you keep counting. It has several small
motels, restaurants, taco stands, markets and one Pemex station. I believe it also has a small clinic but not sure if it is open every day. It is your
typical little town on Highway 1 that makes a living off agriculture, fishing and pit stop tourism via highway travelers heading up and down the
peninsula.
The weather gets hot in the summer days and cold in the winter nights. The bridge over the river south of town has been rebuilt a couple of times from
high water during storm season and does cause quite a panic for locals and travelers when it is damaged as there is no way around until the water goes
down and tractors can pull you across.
Not too much crime per se although there was a very unfortunate incident a year or so back. A local taco stand owner well known to Baja Nomads was hit
by gunfire from a narco related shooting outside her little place of business and later died. Other than that I am not aware of much although others
here may know more.
I forgot to add - the local business community there is pretty tight so I would definitely hook up with someone who is there most of the time (Antonio
is usually up in Tijuana) who can show you the ropes. I know via the experience of a friend who just showed up there and put out his "open for
business" sign that they don't always warm up to newbies who don't "pay their dues", so to speak.

THERE WON'T BE A SIGN JUST A HOME BASE. MY SPANISH IS NOT TOO GOOD BUT MY WIFE IS NATIVE NEW MEXICAN AND HISPANIC. SHE DOES REAL WELL. I CAN ORDER A

THE JOB WOULD BE MORE LIKE ACTING AS AN AGENT. EL ROSARIO IS JUST CENTRALLY LOCATED. NOT TERRIBLY FAR FROM ENSENADA.(SP) AGRICULTURE, EQUIPMENT AND
FISHING INDUSTRIES, FROM THE GULF. IF THIS COULD BE HAPPENING IN A RESORT TOWN, SOMEONE ELSE WOULD PROBABLY BE THERE ALREADY. MY LUCK. RETIREING IN A
COUPLE YEARS, GOOD CHANCE TO CHECK OUT THE BAJA, WIFE AND I LIKE TO FISH.

Sorry about the caps, just a lazy typist. As I understand, El Rosario is centrally located more or less. I'm not to particular where I live so much as
long as it is a safe and friendly place. I lived in the middle of the Navajo reservation, NM. for 8 years, 150 miles from a computer store or good
hospital. Front porch, lawn chair, cold beer, when I'm not working.
