Sentri on Sunday

I have been crossing on Sundays at TJ, Otay and Tecate recently but have been using the regular lanes because my friend doesn't have a Sentri pass. I have found the wait between 2 and 3 hours at all three. I will be using my Sentri in a couple weeks and wonder what the wait is when using the pass. Anyone crossed with the Sentri on a Sunday afternoon/evening lately?

silly of you to wait in the peon line when pedestrian line is faster than peon car line.
you should drive the sentri lane while your friend walks across to join you on other side.

That idea didn't go over with her too well. She didn't feel comfortable being alone in line and not knowing exactly what to do (she has never walked across before).

20 minutes tops.

Best to have your friend cross at Otay less pedestrian traffic then you just wait on the other side.

Tell her to suck it up. Would she rather walk 20 minutes or sit for 3 hours. Silly girl.

She would rather sit.....and make me suffer! I really hope it is only 20 minutes with the Sentri on a Sunday evening.

Brian....................go to Otay SENTRI.

Let her off at the covered pedesrtian walkway, just have her follow the crowd..........when you get through the SENTRI checkpoint, pull around to the US Customs visitor parking lot and meet her as she comes out...........

Easy squeezy!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know, I think these guys estimates are sometimes based on Baja time. I end up crossing a lot on Sunday afternoons, and it's 30-40 minutes a lot of the time. Sometimes it's faster, but that would be my estimate. Maybe it's faster now that summer is over. In any case, it's way better than 2-3 hours.

I would agree that Otay is a better choice for someone walking across.

I had a "friend" who did not want to walk across alone. After the 3 hour wait, she changed her tune. It was too late at that point.

why are people afraid to walk across alone? it is not a threatening location, just a line of people waiting to cross the border, and a few people selling junk food and trinkets. often you can pass the time talking with other people in line.

perhaps DK can post some maps and photos of the pedestrian lines

Well today was a very unusual day at San Ysidro. If you did talk your gal into walking across, I bet she's not speaking to you right now.

We cross almost every Sunday
If you leave by 10 am there is usually no wait

in the afternoon it can vary from no wait to as much as 30 minutes
but more often on the shorter side.

I can only remember a few times of evr waiting more than 30 minutes and that was 2 years ago, when the lines were frequently long.

i think it often takes longer to get in to Mexico (especially when CBP is checking South Bound) that to get out of Mexico with Sentri
