I've a trip to La Paz
upcoming and look for suggestions for a day down Ventana Bay, as far as a look at the ranches around De Los Planes then evening in La Paz. Any
particular turn outs to be made?

What is it you have in mind? Did you want to stop and meet ranchers? I know a few ranchers in that area. Let me know what your agenda is and we'll
take it from there.
A couple of the arroyos that parallel the road into Los Planes have waterfalls, but they'd be pretty lame this year, given the amount of rain we have
had.

Haven't seen that coastline yet. That's first. I have a son studying animal reproduction at UABCS. For that reason I wanted to see that landscape
for the future. Any idea is helpful.

The coastline is fantastic over on Ventana Bay, that should be fun for you to get acquainted with. With a son attending UABCS, you probably already
have the inside track on info for the region. But if not, let me know if there's anything I can contribute to your enjoyment of the area.

1. Head south from La Paz and turn left at the La Ventana road.
Follow this road through La Ventana and thorugh El Sargento to the secluded dunes and beaches to the north.
2. Head towards Los Planos and past to Los Meurtos - the bay is beautiful; sand beaches and a view to the island. you can also get a good look at the
dirt road heading south on the slope across the bay.
3. On the way back from Los Meurtos, take a right on the signed dirt road to the lighthouse/launch area near the old hotel (It passes the paved
airstrip). The beach just before the hotel is littered with shells and the snorkeling isn't bad for close-in. Mid to late morning will see the
pangueros returning with their catch.

bajacalifornian - if you want to add me on facebook, I have some pics to whet your appetite ... it was so beautiful (and I love love love where we
live, which is 600 miles north of there) that for a second we actually considered buying in La Ventana !! It is just amazingly breathtakingly
exquisite IMHO.
