Dollars at toll booths.
The toll booths on the mainland have apparently stopped accepting US dollars - only Pesos now.
Do we know if it is the same on Mex 1-D cuota to Ensenada???

They accepted dollars a couple of days ago. I haven't read anything locally about any change in that regard - you would think it would make a lot of
news here...

Yeah....they love dollars between TJ and ENS. Just came through Thursday.
I don't know if they plan on changing, but that's the way it was. Can't imagine they would put another hurt on tourism, but sometimes I get a feeling
they don't think just like I do.

Pesos only? (not last July, anyway)
Funny how they keep doing things to give Americans more reasons not to go there?:
1) Charge for Tourist Cards... but also require you pay for them at a bank instead of the place that issues them!!??
2) Raise prices when business slows down... as if that will bring more business!!

The examples cited are highly situational. Close to the border, with likely a high percentage of Mexican clientele. Motoged is fundamentally correct.
Try, for instance trying to use pesos at a CVS in San Luis Obispo.

Then again, the Tipo has to be considered. That CVS in SLO would gladly take them at sixteen to one.
So...it boils down to the cost of customer service.

Ensenda toll road; I paid in dollars last week. Not a bad rate. Then pick up pesos at an ATM in Ensenada and fill up my phone at Telcel and off you
go.
The grass is always greener....
and so, there is always a better spot in Baja

Not bad at all. 12.40 to one for 84 Ps = $6.78...mas o menos.

I was just down the toll road to Ensenada on Thursday also. (We might have been tailgating Dennis..)
Of the 3 tolls, I paid in pesos at the first two (55 P)..then ran out of peso change and paid in dollars. The rate is written at the booths in pesos
and dollars.
I tried Euros..but no luck there.
I do what the voices in my tackle box tell me.

The Mex 1-D toll booths accepted dollars when I drove through Oct 15-17.
In fact, they not only accepted dollars they also gave change in dollars. On my trip down in May of this year, they were only giving change in pesos.

I have asked a few of the toll booth attendants between Tijuana and Ensenada if they are going to stop taking dollars and they have all said no.
Dollars will still be accepted for the time being.....
