Air Rifles/Pellet Guns Okay in Mexico?

Can anyone confirm if air rifles are okay to bring, and if so, has anyone been hassled about one at a military inspection?

I love plinking cans and such once and a while.

We use slingshots bought at the curios in Ensenada. The trick is to have a lot of cans to plink.

Must be a misspell. Surely, you meant CATS, right???

Lordy, am I gonna catch it, now..............

Anyway, they're sold in the Sorianas down here, so I cant imagine they are too illegal.

Dave, did you actually use the term "plinking cans" on a public message board?????? Oh my!!!!:wow:

They sell pellet guns in the grocery stores.

The allowed caliber may be involved....such as .22 as opposed to .177.

This question has been asked here no less tha fifty thousand times and all we have ever had was guesses. Without hiring an attorney to research the law....we are left with nothing other than guesses.

In other words....no one really knows.

Hire an attorney.

From my upper deck I think I can reach your windows if I pump my Remington .20 about 10 times.

.177 is fine.

.22 or larger requires permits.

Please remit 50 pesos. :D

Sure, why not. Fill it with .177 BBs, and use a 2000psi nitrogen bottle for propellant. That sounds like it meets the letter of the law.

As Pompano says...

They are legal. However, if challenged at an army checkpoint or by the local police, your chances of keeping the weapon are 50/50. ;D
