hip replacement surgery
I'm inquiring for a friend who has no health insurance in the states, and is in need of hip replacement surgery. I've looked over the surgery/tourism
site sponsored by doctors, and submitted info for a quote.
Does anyone have any experience or specific recommendations for hip replacement surgery in Mx or other foreign country? If he came to Baja I could
assist the logistics.

It will still likely be quite expensive in Mexico. Maybe not an arm and al leg expensive like in the USA, but at least a leg expensive.
Has your friend tried negotiating with a USA hospital for the procedure? Often if you pay in cash they will give you a substantial discount so they
don’t have to deal with the insurance companies. Just a thought.

In La Paz BCS the sought-after orthopedic surgeon is Dr. Mondragon.

Dr. Abasolo has been a fixture in San Felipe for 20 years. He was formally the Chief of Staff at the St. James Infirmary. He now has his own office on
Chetumal and is in the process of building a small hospital behind his clinic.
Consultations: (686) 577-1706

Fast story here.
A member of our camp had heart issues. Major quad. Dr. Abasolo made arrangements with specialists that he knows personally, in Mexicalli, and got it
done. This member of our camp is now 110% active with life. He has done wonders for others. Rotary Club and other groups...backs him up.
Worth a dime to call. He speaks English better than me.

I consulted one of the top orthopedic surgeons in La Paz before my THR and the message I took away was that Mexicans do not suffer joint failures
often so the surgeons have limited experience. I'm sure it would be less expensive, but look hard for a surgeon with lots of experience.
