You can get an annual policy for that much... You need full coverage if there are lien holders or if you want repairs made to your vehicle's damage.

Have you gotten quotes from the top three Baja Nomad sources for insurance (BajaBound.com, DiscoverBaja.com, and Lewis & Lewis at mexicanautoinsurance.com) ?

An annual policy is about the same price as 2 weeks of daily policy coverage... and it is good for a year of Baja vacations!

Do you have full coverage at home ?
So you don't care as much about the value of your rig in Baja ?
I don't understand .....
Get full coverage for whatever value you choose.

Woody, are you absolutely, positively, unequivocably sure about that to the exclusion of any other possibility? Does the policy say "theft" is covered expressly?

Methinks you need to insure the Airstream seperately

From the English translation of my Qualitas policy:
The total theft of the insured vehicle as well as the losses or damages resulting from said total theft.

Why do you guys say this? I thought you just listed the towed vehicles with a separate value (zero if you want liability only on the toad while it is being towed or $X if you want it covered under comp/coll)? Why a separate policy?

We typically add our boat and camp trailer to the same policy with either Lewis and Lewis or Discover Baja.
Never had a separate policy.

OK....I didn't know the new, modern procedure. I guess what we mean is the trailer isn't considered an extension of the towing vehicle as it is in the states, unless that's an archaic interpretation as well.

that's a question of risk? are you looking for others to tell you if you can afford a loss w/o insurance?

i always make sure my ins policy includes bond. the mex legal system response after tarffic accident is to throw all in jail until you post bond. supposedly the bond insurance pays your bond after you are arrested,... don't know if it works, haven't had to try it out yet

It is easy to BUY insurance. The hard part from things I have read (especially total loss/theft) is trying to get them to PAY you for the loss.

Is the annual policy full coverage? I was going to ask this same question as I am taking my 2008 FJ Cruiser down for 2 weeks at the end of this week. I certainly want full coverage to cover any damage to my rig in an accident or if it is stolen.

Grace....Here's a link for Bajabound. Ask the horses mouth, Geoff. You won't be comfortable with second hand info.
