Mood: missing Baja...

We have a week!

My daughter has a week off and we are thinking about doing a N. Baja mini vacation. She has two girls, 6 and 13.We know about Estero and Loreto and all that, but were thinking about somewhere we can have a good time with the girls, and maybe a spa for us and girls.I know it's gonna rain on Wed. so beaching is out, not that time of year.We have always loved La Fonda, but I know there are more places to stay/eat.I haven't been to N. Baja in two years so I am thinking you Nomads may have some ideas for us.It's gonna be cold, but the Baja experience is just that and we have a chance to get some!

Tecate's Rancho Ojai cabins? Camping at Agua Caliente hotsprings off Mex. 3, 35 mi. from Ensenada? Room at Rancho Meling (paved road now)? A room in Ensenada and daytrip on Mex. 3 wine route (mision, wine tasting, lunch, next day San Carlos hotsprings, next day tidepooling)? Guadalupe hotsprings?

Keri (Pyramid Resort) can get you a massage in your room. Poco Cielo has the best food in la fonda, and it's centrally located between ensenada and rosarito.

The cabins at Rancho Ojai are really kinda pricey given that you have to bring your own bedding.

I'd splurge. http://www.rancholapuerta.com/

Thank all.Wilderone, I don't think camping is an option for us.No equipment and too darn cold.I love both hotsprings you mentioned but we are thinking more along Keris' place. Thanks Keri.I will definatly call as soon as we decide.Supposed to rain again on Wed.so we will see.We will probably be driving down in my Caddy so off roads are not an option.I sure hope we can pull this off.I really need a vacation!!Hey Keri, U2U me with some info on the room??And prices for massage, room etc please?Do you have any fun things for the kids to do there? Thanks!

If you want to be a little warmer, remember there is San Felipe right on the Sea of Cortez, with reasonable rooms, restaurants, etc. Beaches - whatever you want.

Highway 5 is great, much newly paved and all smooth.

And it is in Baja California,Mx.

Keri doesn't require any off road capabilities. a caddy would fit right in....

look up "pyramid resort baja" and find the site with all details. with the nomad discount, you'll be stoked....

If you are in a 4WD, then the kids (and you grown ups) will love Shell Island! Km. 26 south of San Felipe... If 2WD, then go to Percebu at Km. 19-20 and camp there or spend the day there... Walk across to Shell Island at low tide (just remember to return befor the tide moves back in... I call it an island for a reason!
