Your Android has a "Skype" app available which is not great but functional. Skype on a laptop is very good. I have used it down there for years.
ps: check Android for a snowshovel app LOL
pps: I drive a 2006 Chev diesel and have never had probs with Baja - BUT - be sure to specify to any attendant "diesel, por favor"

well...you must stop in El Rosario -
1. to see mama espinoza's for history - lots of history there
2. to gas up
you should visit Shari in Asuncion - have a party there, besides, it is GORGEOUS. From there visit La Bocana
you must stop in San Ignacio, I recommend Rice and Beans to eat and Casa Leree to stay - take a day to visit the lagoon and see the whales
visit Santa Rosalia and move on to Mulege. Eat at El Candil. garden setting is just special. Maybe stay at Hotel Serenidad.
OR continue on to Loreto. Stay at COCO CABANAS - and say hi to Steven from Blanca and Les Loreto is a bigger town. Nice shops along a walkway, nice malecon and a good happy hour at Auggie's (toward the south end of the beach)
....

THE LIST left out a TIRE REPAIR KIT, Napa or Wal-SLIME, with an extra rubber cement tube. My procedure: get tire off ground, clean area with alcohol,
then ream, clean again, insert plug and allow tire to dry off ground for abt 4-5 hours. the use the pump you forgot. Sears has pumps.
Elsewhere in posts I go on abt Hellwigs
http://www.hellwigproducts.com/products/sway-control/truck-s...
A GMC 4 could use Bills and a bar. The suspension is kinda oxcarty for 1000 miles of narrow twisty road: tiring.
Wait'll you see the bus drivers bus !

I leave stuff out sorry. Baja's spine was formed by the San Andreas Fault runs down Sea of Cortez. Earthquakes. You know the Mexicali Quake ? see USGS
Earthquakes. Well, the road shfits from under your vehicle. No ! YES !
No fallin' asleep here. There's no berm.
Online, try New York Times Travel section. On right top, chose Mexico and Baja will come up on right right.

Hey DK,
I just thought I'd mention before anyone else notices it and gives you hell, but on your website in the section that you linked to for El Volcan you
have mispelled the mine named La Olvidada (the forgotten). In a couple of places, you have it spelled "La Olividada". Fix it quick and send me a
sticker and I'll delete this post before anyone even notices!
Love your stuff!

That web page has been on line since 2005 and nobody noticed the name error!
So you do win a sticker... as soon as I have more made, as they have run out a while ago... but I may find you a small one?
Thank you BajaDave... I WELCOME corrections! Doesn't everyone on Baja Nomad???
Now, here is the source for my spelling error:
Walt Peterson's The Baja Adventure Book... La Olividad.
The sign and Almanac have an a on the end, but I didn't notice there was no i after the l.
Thanks again...
Here is how The Baja Adventure Book shows it:
