San Felipe trip
Entered at Mexicali old boarder with no wait pulling a 14' enclosed trailer, quick check inside the trailer and off we went.
Light traffic through downtown and the roads to San Felipe are in great shape.
On Monday after christmas took a trip out to Gonzaga and stayed the night at Alfonsinas.
In the morning we headed to Cocos Corner for a visit, He was there and in great spirits but, as most of you know, now missing both of his legs at the
knee.
He seems to get around ok on knee pads and on a small quad but could sure use an all terrain wheelchair.
The trip home on New Years day (Sat) had us through the border in 30 min. after lunch in Tecate.
Epic trip.

Was the road beyond the (new) end of pavement re-graded smooth for any distance, or rough right away?

Rough right away. New paved road ends 1/2 mile North of Okie Landing.
Haven't had a bad trip yet....

No substantial grading and very rough, beyond Gonzaga the road is graded untill you get to the washes.
The 1000 went through here in November, even the flat areas have whoops.

I did read your report about Okie's Landing being near the new south end of pavement, Chuck... Was the area cleared of heavy equipment or was it all
there waiting to start the next 10 km. section?

You would think there would be something but there was no equipment.

So the job ended (at least for now).
I hear they fund 10 km.s at a time... instead of just getting the whole job done.
So, pavement now runs approx. 26 miles south from Puertecitos, leaving about 22 miles to the the Gonzaga Bay Pemex (Alfonsina's/ Rancho Grande) and 58
miles to Hwy. 1 (Laguna Chapala).

I went through there yesterday. I did see some yellow iron sitting around and also most of the rockcrusher equipment and I think the batch plant. I
didn't spend a lot of time looking, so I didn't inventory it, but some stuff was still there. I took a picture of the end of the road looking north.
When I download the pictures, I'll see what I can make out.
Talked to the locals at Punta Bufeo. They told me that the road crews took off until February, and that then, an 11-km section was gong to be started.
Seems inconsistent and a bit odd, but that's what they told me. Personally, I'd prefer the construction companies would just go home and stay there.
