Casa de Ana in San Javier
Nomads,
The internet doesn't give any clear info regarding the number or type of "units" at Casa de Ana in San Javier. Does anyone have first-hand info
regarding the number of "rooms" or whatever are offered at this place.... (I have done a BN search and the hotel Oasis site pops up but no info re:
Casa de Ana).
Gracias

Casa de Ana
San Javier
Tel: 01152 (613) 135-1552
I came across them once before in searching for Loreto hotels and I seem to remember the price was pretty high but a minute ago I found where someone
rated them as excellent at a fair price. Give em a call and let us know what the deal is.

Maybe I am not understanding what it is you want. Is not the number I posted for the Casa de Ana hotel?
Here is their web site with info on the accomodations.

DK I think the number is for the Oasis hotel in Loreto which owns the Casa de Ana in San Javier.

TW,
You can count on that !!!
Sorry for my first reply to you....It sounded snotty and I apologize for that. You provided the link with the info I was wanting (# of
units/electricity capacity.....( i.e. "five casitas", "electricity from late afternoon to 10:00 pm [or so....], bathroom facility available...).
Rate seems to be around $33-39..... and one "restaurant" and one family who "cooks for donation" [i.e. woman serves what family is eating and accepts
"what you think it is worth" for payment].
My previous post re: "Loreto accommodations" led me to three good options (thanks Nomads)....but a night in San Javier has a lot more "Baja cachet" to
it

The Casa de Ana is owned and operated by Anita Benzger the Daughter of Gloria and Bill Benzger.
Bill is the Original builder of the Hotel Oasis. His wife Gloria was the First Congresswomen of the New State of Baja Sur and a member of the Davis
Family a very strong and powerful Family in the Loreto Area.
Call the Hotel and talk to Anita and she can tell you about Casa Ann.

Skeet when did they build the hotel there? I was last thru there maybe 8-10 years ago and I don't remember a hotel. Of course there are a lot of
things I don't remember.

Tom, from Ged's photos you can see the rooms hardly look like a hotel. We noticed them in 2009 when we drove up to San Javier. Oh, the road up from
Loreto was also paved almost halfway (10 of the 22 miles I recall).

I used to stop at that place when motorcycling through before it became Casa de Ana, the ramada there seemed to be a gathering place for 3 or 4 older
men who were very cordial. Sodas were available and it was a nice spot to sit and relax for a bit.

I saw little numbered casitas when we were there in 2009. They are on the east side of the approach road to the mission, with 100yds+ of the mission.
I asked about them and was told they were for "tourists to rent". I didn't get any more details. They look very nice from the outside.
Were not talking hotel in the usual sense, I would definitely give them a try though. It would be a great experience spending the night there.
They were installing power lines to the town at that time, withing a few miles.

I haven't been up to San Javier since 1998, but at that time you could get lunch and cold beers at a woman's home where she had an open air kitchen.
It was a great experience to sit in this woman's home, trying to communicate in Spanish...and when you wanted another beer she just walked over to her
refrigerator, opened it and got you another. I need to find the time to go back up there again to see what "progress" has brought to San Javier in the
last 12 years.
Whenever I hear that rainy, chill wind blow. I think it may be time to head for Mexico. Tengo que obedecer mi corazon!
