Shari, is this a relative of Juan's?

Clemente Arce
A relative?
Noticed looking through photos on the Casa Leree website:

Well, How about that !!!!
I was looking through pictures on the Casa de Leree site and something drew me to that pic....when I read the name I saw "Arce" and wondered. They
have similar facial features....two handsome men
Is that an old picture ("the old days") as are many of the photos in that collection or relatively recent (past 15 years)?
6 degrees of separation, huh !?

As I understand it, Arce is a somewhat commonly found surname throughout Latin America, Spain and even Italy. Maybe they all trace back to the same
parental source.

Yes, that occurred to me after I sent the first post....kinda like "Smith".....

And, yes, we probably all came from the same critters that started to walk upright....some are just dragging their knuckles more than some
others...
Not suggesting this applies to Juan, Shari...

For more on the Arces and Villavicencios, read Harry Crosby's 'Last of the Californios' as well as watch the movie 'Bajo California: The Limit of
Time'.
These are families who descended from Spanish soldiers brought to (Baja) California to protect the Jesuits in the late 1600's and 1700's.

There's a lot of info on early families in Pablo Martinez's Guia Familiar de Baja California 1700-1900 (in Spanish).

Clemente Arce is alive and well (I saw him there last November), and lives in San Ignacio. He is an accomplished woodworker and artist. Juanita has
a number of his paintings on display and for sale at Casa Leree.

Thats a great photo! Very catchy.
Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.
