Fishing Bahia Concepcion

Is it not permitted for all fishing in Concepcion Bay or just not permitted for commercial fishing or not from a boat?? Heard a rumor...
We'll be down there in the beginning of april and would like to take the little "panga gringo".
Thanks

I haven't heard of any restrictions for private fishermen. Just be sure that you, and everybody aboard, have a current fishing license.

However, most people fish out beyond the mouth to the Bahia because there are more fish.

We fished the heck out of concepcion in a panga in 1989, zip. Then we went spearfishing and didn't see hardly any fish. Ten hours of looking and frustration. We decided that the bahia was near barren.

I've got a small boat so I have to stay pretty close to the mouth of the bay. What are they biting on?

The bahia has fish but they are tough to catch. We use spectra line, flouro leader (30#) and a 2/0 with clam, cut bait, shrimp tails etc. Mostly triggers, pargo, hogfish and mucho cabrilla flaca. You can pull plugs and catch cuda and sierra. On the right day you can head out of the bay, fish are larger and you can pick up bass and grouper as well, go deep with a mackerel and pick up jurel if you know the spots. In April there will be some small jacks. I've fished it for years and it is a cruel mistress.

Bring a cast net and you can pick up mullet in the shallows.

Bob & Susan use a 12' alum. boat and have posted some nice catches just outside the bay. I don't now the best months for roosters but there are some awesome roosters in the bay. Since Bob and Susan live there they'll have a good handle on lures and places during April. They also have a really sweet B&B.

Thanks for the input everyone. All I really need is enough fish to fill some tortillas. A nice rooster would be good entertainment though. Hows the clamming now days? It used to be great 15-20 years ago.
