Taxi Service to TJ Airport

I plan on walking across the border at Otay Mesa. Where does one catch a cab near the border? What can I expect for the fare? Is the airport within walking distance? Thanks in advance, Paul Boe

About a yr. ago, I parked on the Otay US side,
and walked across, there were taxis just after
Mex Immigration, maybe 200' inside Mex,
I actually walked to the airport to meet some
people coming back on Volaris, the walk was
45 min or so. We took a cab/van back to the Otay
crossing from the airport, the fare was $16 or
so. BUT, the airport taxis are designated for
the airport, they are higher than regular
cabs. This is a guess, but I wo uld think approx $8- $10
from Otay to the airport. The walk is ok, I don't
believe many airport travellers do it, be a bit
of a challenge with luggage, backpack ok,
I think about a 2mi walk

Technically, you could walk, but I wouldn't advise it since the expansion was completed a couple of months ago. It's now three lanes in each directon, like a mini-freeway and not pedestrian friendly. Take the cab.
