Careful... Alfonso had cans of diesel for sale at Cataviña... and he buys from Baja Cactus in El Rosario... which has had Ultra Low Azufre Diesel for
a few years now... It comes from the El Sauzal depot (next to Ensenada).

Do some more searching about this. I have a powerstroke 6.0 and it is supposedly not such an important issue for me. But I remember reading lots about
the new diesel owners and I thought the consensus and reports were that guys were not having any problems running the diesel in Baja. I've also heard
that most diesel in Baja is actually a us product since it is more expensive to transport fuel from the mainland. I do add Diesel Kleen to mine.

Diesel in Baja Norte (not sure about L.A. Bay or Villa Jesus Maria) is Ultra Low.
Ask diesel owning Nomads in Baja Sur if they have issues. None I have heard (Bob & Susan come to mind).

Are you just trying to not use Baja Sur diesel at all...? Guerrero Negro is 225 miles from El Rosario.

I need to use ultra low sulphur only.....so 225 down and 225 back with about 100 of running around is gonna leave me a little short, unless there is
ultra low sulphur in GN...........back to carrying 3 cans

bajaguy,
I understand your concern about using non-ultra low sulfur fuel. but as Doug said, check/ask around, especially the RVers.
I did some online research about this recently and the concensus seems to be that a tank or two will not cause long term damage. Filters may clog
faster, but no major engine damage. Check out the RV sites and ask about people pulling their RVs or diesel powered RVs down.

fuels.html
3) http://www.duramaxforum.com/forum/07-5-2010-lmm-duramax-powe...
4) http://www.rversonline.org/ArtMexULSD.html
according to that last site: "According to the station owner (Señor Meza) the Pemex station in the town of El Rosario (160 miles south of Ensenada) is
the last chance to purchase ULSD on Mex 1 when headed south in Baja California."

Can you take a 100 gallon diesel tank mounted on an ATV trailer through the San Ysidro Border going South?

Bob........Thanks for the links. We plan on filling up in El Rosario for the trip. My concern is that I have a 2011 Dodge diesel P/U with less than
5000 miles and really don't want to screw it up so soon!!!!!

76 miles from El Rosario is Cataviña, and El Rosario Pemex diesel is (was) sold there in cans, across from hotel (Desert Inn)... by Alfonso or his
helpers. There is another distributor before Alfonso, so if not one, than maybe the other. Charge was under a dollar a gallon over Pemex price... a
bargain for them driving 152 miles round trip to bring it there.
No guarantee, but good chance (he also had some Premium for sale too).

New vehicle Diesel Exhaust Particulate Filters will clog up using diesel fuel with more than 15 ppm sulfur. How soon this occurs, at how many miles is
open to debate. You can purchase a polypropylene half drum in Ensenada, or San Quintin which will hold around 25 gallons. Harbor freight sells squeeze
bulb siphon hoses cheap. This shouldn't be a high octane issue to resolve.

sounds like you got a new truck and are still in love with it, so kind of risky to use wrong fuel, or rely on DK's guys selling gas from rusty drums
on side of hwy.
perhaps take a car that can use local fuel. take the other car, and don't worry, be happy.

dont take ANY extra cans...they stink
use what you fet out of the pump
you'll be fine
remember ultra low diesel is about smog and not performance
your truck computer will adjust
i'd buy in villa jesus maria

I was hoping you would pipe in Bob... Your diesel is pretty new (ultra low), right? You live in Baja Sur so it only knows the diesel sold there for
the most part!
Villa Jesus Maria is about 200 miles south of El Rosario/ 25 miles north of Guerrero Negro.
