Looking for diesel mechanic!

Need to locate a diesel mechanic in the La Paz/Cabo area to diagnose and repair Cummins diesel in a Dodge Ram truck.

We're pretty sure it's a fuel system problem - probably the injection pump (expensive!). Getting the P0251 error code (Fuel Inj. Pump Mech. Failure Fuel Valve Feedback Circuit).

Also wondering how to get needed parts down here?

Any comments/advice/recommendations greatly appreciated!

Saludos, Rob(erto)

Servicios Diesel Arana 612-128-2481
Calle Himno Nacional #285 Col. Diana Laura
Lapaz BCS
Abraham B. Arana Carillo (Technico)
Cummins de Baja
Atamirano S/N entre Colosio y Colima
Colonia SEP
La Paz BCS
612-123-5232
I have used both, Aranas will be cheaper, if you require English, Jesus Felix at Cummins Baja is fluent. Parts should be no problem other than the price. Arana fixed my Powerstroke with zero problems.

Monoloco -- this is good (and appreciated) information. Can you tell us where in La Paz Col. Diana Laura is located? Not familiar with that area.

Go see the boat maintenance yard of a fishing place. They have good Cummins diesel mechanics.

What year is your truck? VP-44 injection pump? If the pump failed it is probably due to low fuel pressure. If so if you end up replacing the pump, spend the bucks and replace the lift pump with a Fass of AirDog.

I am not a mechanic.
But.
I was always told to check the fuel filters before anything......

If it is your IP it will be cheaper to get the pump in the USA and then have it installed in La Paz.

The lift pump was replaced with a FASS pump a few months ago.

Good, those VP-44's are very prone to failure from low fuel pressure. Possible that the damage was already there before the replacement of the LP.

Yes, I'm thinking the same thing.

Let's see, a new LP, a new IP and Fass. Now for a Smarty and a few other goodies. Un-oh, do that and a Suncoast is in the future. A very slippery slope, but worth it.:yes::yes::lol:

If you are heading south out of La Paz it is to the right off Forjadores but I don't remember exactly where to turn, it's been a couple of years since I've been there. Maybe someone else from La Paz will chime in.

Hi Unbob, You might try Mike Quaid in San Jose del Cabo- if he can't help he will know who can. Mike is located near the Los Pinos lumber buildings. There are also some good dsl mechanics at the new marina boat yard (Port Los Cabos) and I hear they will also work on Dodge trucks with the Cummins power plant.
