Puerto Escondito

Looking for remote camping near Puerto Escondido (south of Loreto). Is there such a thing? And would you recommend this area for kayaking?

You are more then welcome to stay there as i'm in the states , let me know if you are interested , no charge other then some photo's and a story .

define 'remote'
Ligui has a nice place, as close to remote as you are going to get 'near' Pto E.
Agua Verde you can pull up and camp on various beaches.
not 'remote' but Rattlesnake Beach is just south, lots of snowbirds there for the winter. ditto, Free Beach just north. remember the waters around are Marine Park and you will need wrist band/permit to be on the water and also you need to register to camp on any of the islands in the park.

Find a spot at rattlrsnake with a little elbow room around you, safety in numbers, or take up Ligui on the offer.

Take Ligui up on his offer.
Beautiful spot, way better than Rattlesnake.
Also better spot for canoeing!

depends on where you are, where you go. you originally asked about the Pto Escondido area. if you are in the Loreto area Marine Park waters, you do need a wristband which you can get, along with the map of the park, and permission to camp on the islands at their office at the marina in Loreto. Luigi's place is in Ensenada Blanca which is not in the park however Danzante, the island closest to there, is.
although if you are stopped by the park guys without a band you can usually just buy one from them, it's good form to get one beforehand. the park needs everyone's support.

I have kayaked all over the world and I would consider that area world class. Paddle out to Danzante and then to Carmen for an overnighter. Carmen may be off limits nowadays, or you may need a permit??

actually you do, and you should if you get on the water there.
my apologies, I did make a mistake. Ensenada Blanca IS in the Loreto Marine Park. so stop by the office, get your 22 pesos day passes and don't be a part of such ugly gringo mentality.

The Ligui area is definately in the Marine Park. I was actually pulled over by the parks people 2 years ago in a kayak fishing right there at the Los Candeleros Islands off Ligui's place.

I have also stayed at Ligui's place several times and I will second the view is to die for up there. It would be a little hike up the hill with the kayak though. Too far to leave it unattended on the beach.

the marine park guys are doing the best they can with little funding to preserve the environment here. if you want to come down for the next 33 years and hope to see the same picture perfect views go pay the pittance.
22 pesos a day, or 220 pesos for a yearly pass...sure, right, all about $$$$$!
