buying beer in mex

so where is the cheapest place to buy beer across the border? last trip stopped at mexicali costco and bought tecate for 96 pesos per 12 pac cans. seems fair but kind of a hassle going into costco for beer. talking about 8 or ten 12 pacs. anywhere cheaper? thanks

That's the least I've heard of. Generally, the large super markets have the best prices.
Actually, you might very well find your best price in the states....believe it or not.

HARD to beat that price.
modelloDRAMAS are the pitch. Here in TS they give you the worst service I have seen anywhere. They don't take your returns even when you bought the case there,
Absolutley trocious.

The grass is always greener....
and so, there is always a better spot in Baja

Check the duty free stores before crossing. Best prices I've found.

Of course, American beer 30 pack cans are way cheap.

The OXXOs and the Extras over here were selling 10 packs of Tecate or Modelo, respectively, for 64 pesos. Cans, of course. Saw this price in Guaymas during the Carnaval parade. Could have been an event special.

Tough to beat the supermarkets down here. I think they use beer as a loss leader.

WW: I've been caught by that many times and it still surprises me. At what hour do they STOP selling it? Are any of the big supermarkets 24 hours? OXXO's must be?

There's a limit on what alcohol you can bring into Baja?

Yes, similar to bringing it into the states. What you're allowed, by the book, makes it impractical to spend too much time on the economics of it all.

I brought 72 bottles of wine this year and went to declare it at Otay Mesa and explained that really it's home made-it was, it could be juice or could be wine, but my family-the same ones that made the wine they are coming to drink it, so really it's not importing wine as much as drinking the house juice with the family. They checked with the top dog and said yep that's fine. No problem. It was enjoyed by many.

As I travel up and down, I find that I buy beer mostly at the Modelorama and Tecate Six stores. Never really considered price, but seems it was reasonable.

They are very convenient. Quick in and out, and are all along the way.

BTW, noting a prior poster about taking returns, I always buy cans. They fit much better in the cooler.

Leave later, sleep in, stop for breakfast, take 12 hours to get to camp. You could save $2.00 on beer.;D

Not me.
leave early, drive fast,do not move over for French bicycles, no stops, pay extra for beer.
