Anyone can get an FM2??? It this a scam?
Anyone hear of any validity to this? Received it in an email.

Only requirement is for you to have valid passport.

I don't see any reason why a well connected facilitator couldn't make it happen for you. The immigration rules are a moving target and having
connections seems to be the key to everything......dt

Whenever an FM-2/3 question comes up on this board, several members mention that they use a service to get it done, so I don't see why this would be a
scam--provided you meet the requirements. When I have been at the immigration office for whatever reason, I have often seen people there checking up
on several FMs at a time, so I assume that this service has been around for a while.

They stoped doing the FM3/2 in the US last year at the Mexican Consulate. where you could do the paper work have it processed and save money.
Now you have to pay a third party to do it for you. The INM will not do any thing but process your forms and issue the Fm3/2. I like the card ID idea.
Better than the bulky passport booklet.

It just sounds like an independent agent is getting creative.
The deal maker or breaker for me would be, where is this agent? I don't think I'd ever consider sending money or my Passport through the mail.
I don't care enough to do any follow-up, but why doesn't someone get ahold of these people and find out what's up. Then, we'll know.

From what I know, anyone with a valid a passport can get a FM2 by simply completing the process. You do not need a facilitator, you need to go to the
IMN where you reside/visit in Mexico.

Paul...we've been through this a million times. Ensenada is not La Paz. They do things differently up here and anything that looks or feels like
customer service is promptly dealt with.
That said.....I have no doubt that you could pull it of with no trouble.

I have an FM2 and the lady who does ours is very legit and she told me that the programs change from year to year. We had our FM3 for 5 years and she
signed us up for FM2 this year. The fm2 is twice the price of the fm3 and you have to sign that you are retired and living in Mexico full time.
However, after 5 years you are permanent imigrante and you no longer have to spend the dough to update it annually.

Try it, let me know how it works out for you. If its legit, I'll jump in.
I was told three years ago that going through the FM3 process was the only way to get your FM2.

hmmm interesting, in la paz you do a two step dance with a girl named Maria then pass an orange neck to neck and they give you the fm-2 served on a
plate of fresh shrimp. I guess life is different everywhere.

Absolutely possible.
But isnt there some kind of requirement that your vehicles be imported into Mexico if you have an FM-2, i.e., that you cant be driving around in US
plated vehicles?

If there is, it's not enforced at all. Anyway, Mexicans drive all over the place here with US plated cars, current and expired. Why can't we?
By the way....not much of any immigration regs are enforced here. They save all their efforts and energy for beating hell out of the cruise ships.

you mean any nationality? I think probably any unless there's some country on the no no list.
with only a passport? this is the part I doubt. they're gonna want photos, info, and, yes, with a first time application, bank statements.
are you saying without the inconvenience of five years of an FM3? that might be interesting, I've no idea whether that can be done or not.
sounds like just an expeditor to me...
reality\'s never been of much use out here...

i do know they dropped the 5 year required on the FM3; i'm not buying "only a passport"; though when we renewed last fall, we were never asked for
bank statements!
