re set FM3 renewal date?
We would like to have a different renewal date for our FM3. The original date of issue is July which currently requires a separate trip as opposed to
the convenience of Nov/December visits.
Does anyone know if it is possible to get the renewal date modified?
Thank you.

I don't know of a legal way of doing it. Maybe just let the FM3 lapse, pay the
fine and renew on the date you want. Possibla?? Don't know.

Yes, you can get it changed, we did this last year. You'll still need to do the upcoming renewal in July. At that time you tell them that you want
to change the renewal date to November or whenever. They will issue an FM3 that is only valid for 4 or 5 months, up to the new renewal date. At that
point you'll be due to renew again. It's a little costly because you pay the same amount for the partial year renewal, but it's a lot cheaper than
making a special trip every year.
Make sure you don't set your new renewal date close to Christmas, it can be a real PITA to do renewals then when the office closes.

Hola Tod,
jeffg is correct.
i have the same problem of having to be in los barriles two weeks before the expiration of my fm3 for my accountant to renew before march 22 each
year.
i called her and she gave me the same information as jeffg posted.
as i am only in los barriles for six months each year and am no longer planning on opening a business or working, i am canceling my fm3 this year and
am going to just get the new fmm, probably from vagabundos. cost for me of canceling through my accountant is $ 100.00 U.S. whereas the cost of
renewal is $ 200.00 U.S. for having it done for me.
also definitely correct: mid december to around mid january is a nightmare time frame for trying to get anything done in baja sur !!! easter, which is
just around the corner is another problem time frame.
do you really need an fm3 ?
BIEN SALUD, DA RAT

I thought I had to have an FM3 as a homeowner in MX. I also thought it might help with cap gains taxes someday but I really don't know.....do I need
one
Thanks for the information. Very helpful.
