Vehicle title?

Just checking- is there any situation that would require me to carry my title with me on a short trip to Ensenada that doesn`t require vehicle import? If I need the title, I`ll take it along, but otherwise I really prefer for it to stay safe and sound in my house. Sorry, I`m not very up on Baja or on anything to do with vehicles in Mexico.
Thanks,
B DesJ

A copy of your current registration is all that needed if asked at the border.

Just bring copies if you have any questions. In fact, bring copies of everything and don't leave them all in the glove box. It would be nice to have some reference if your car disappears. I heard that happened once down here. :o

We've made a disk with all of our important docs scanned; passports, birth certifs, driver's license, visas, vehicle registration and title, insurance, etc.
We leave it with a trusted relative who can send the docs to us by email or fax if needed.

Whenever I have been asked by customs, they always want ORIGINAL registration - no copies. Never asked for title.

original registration.
make copies of everything.
an easy back up is to scan and email copies of everything to your email address...always available anywhere you can get access and print.

Thanks, gang. That`s good for me- the fewer complications, the better. My wife was still in Mexico when she learned to drive, so I usually make her do it, and it still scares the hell out of me! The few times I`ve sat myself behind the wheel were hair raising experiences to say the least. But no big cities this trip, so hopefully I won`t find myself yearning for my bus hopping days.
