Health warnings about eating fish?

Various areas have warnings about eating fish species of a certain size. The larger predator-type fish accumulate high levels of toxins from their prey. No warnings for humans about eating a lot of the smaller fish. We don't accumulate toxins?

Seems today you can do the research and find almost everything will either make you sick or kill you. Believe it all and you are down to eating only organic carrots and drinking filtered water.

The same currents that carry the debris will also include the high radiation levels. How much will be dissipated between here and Japan?

Guess we won't need to cook the fish when we catch it... it will already be cooked and possibly smoked.

On the other hand...maybe they will be like Incredible Hulk Fish...When hooked they will get peeed and grow in size and strength...and of course they will be green.

or maybe they will be really strong and gross looking like the Toxic Avenger!

Yep! ...and night fishing will be much easier than day fishing for spotting the fish. :o:cool:

Not to worry Cypress, all of the fish in the Sea of Cortez were caught years ago. The only things left are prehistoric remnants anyway. :tumble::spingrin::yes::lol::lol:

Isn't this how Godzilla got started (high radiation in the sea)?

We Can HOPE So !

Assuming that the Free-Market Principles are NOT interfered with, a "Fishy Radiation" scare should increase availability and LOWER prices to those of us who know how silly that Crap is.

Bring on the Scare.

Regarding Godzilla, I'm not sure, but I'll ask the wife. SHE watched it the last time it was on TV taking advantage of the Nip Nuke scare.

In the US, mercury levels in some freshwater fish have prompted states to issue warnings against eating 'em more than once every two weeks and for women that are pregnant not to eat 'em period. This has been going on for a while.

To those who scoff at the possibility of radiation poisoning the fish: Do you have any scientific knowledge, training or statistics to disprove that possibility?

Sure, humor is good, i.e: "...won't have to cook the fish; can fish in the dark; Godzilla,etc.". That is known as as relief comedy and serves to help relieve anxiety. But there is the quite serious side of it which must be considered and taken seriously.

I certainly don't have anything to prove or disprove the possibility, but I certainly worry about it. The crisis is not over and it will take time to gather the correct data in regards to the fish.

The anti-science crowd uses ridicule to support their theories, which are usually motivated by the political fear that talk-of-the- possibility will somehow be bad for business. Gawd, don't let a whisper of a chance jeopardize your lust for money.

I would rather wait and see what happens before I declare it safe for myself and for humankind, with the sincere hope that it is proven safe over time. But then you probably wouldn't believe the data anyway, would you?

Remember, this is a new cataclysmic disaster involving uncontrolled leakage of nuclear waste. It has nothing to do with Obama's birth certificate or global warming.

Try keeping an open mind!:light:
