Is this true...Costco Mexicali delivers to Sf
Items that cannot be bought in town need to be able to be ordered and shipped here. Large stores in Mexicali must take notice of San Felipe and start
offering to deliver down here (Costco already has a weekly delivery truck so it can be done!).

If I remember correctly, Costco used to deliver donated dog food to the San Felipe Spay and Neuter Clinic on a weekly basis. McFez maybe you could
make this your mission?

Our Costco in Hermosillo will deliver to San Carlos, an hour and a half away. But it's not free. Dont know what the cost for shipping is. Home Depot
does it, too. I have a one ton truck and dont need anything shipped, really.
You can hire someone to ship just about ANYTHING in Mexico..........for a price.
A lot of the local abarrotes stores around here are now carrying Kirkland and Great Value products on their shelves. They've learned what gringos
want, with encouragement by their gringos customers as well.

I'm not a resident of SF, but I have been going there
for 15 yrs. Corrections appreciated, but wasn't the
Original Idea of this Baja thing was in part a RUSTIC
ESCAPE? I realize life behind the gates of El Dorado
in SF doesn't fit with that concept, but does SF need
Costco deliveries for convenience and to appease the
Gringos? I doubt Mex locals will be getting Costco
trucks stopping at their door. A Walmart out on HWY 5
would be a perfect addition. Excuse me, I'm kinda
Old School

even in the old days delivery services existed.
who says delivery service is new school?
and how do you know locals do not shop at costco?
seems to me that delivery is always cheaper than making special trip in your own car.
and most importantly, delivery service has lower greenhouse gas footprint than a solo vehicle trip to costco.
sancho, if you are so old school, then throw away your computer and write us all a letter via snail mail!

I see 20 times more Mexicans at the Costco over here, than gringos.
Somebody needs to tell them to get back to being "old school", I guess......

Costco Mexicali does deliver to San Felipe at least weekly, as well as the Poblado Delicias, KM 32.5 and the little market in Puertecitos. They have
been doing this for several years. The store owners set up a delivery acct. with Costoco, can call in their orders, and they receive a P. O. Number.
They go to or transfer funds at the Bank to pay for their order. The only thing they can't do is deliver frozen goods as their truck is not
refrigerated. If enough stores would ask for the service however, they would do it.
Many of our larger markets, like Jipon, Vaquitas (3) and DJs have their own refrigerated trucks and bring in meat, produce, staples on a regular
basis. These 3 stores have done a good job of cleaning up their stores and having a good fresh supply on hand, much better than in years past.

That OLD School
Is closed and boarded-up.
The MARKET (absent Government intervention) will ALWAYS prevail.
As one who [was] surprised and [later] dismayed at the rate of change in San Felipe once it got underway, I find it nice to mentally revisit those
GREAT times (for me) from '66 to (about '80) remembering when you often couldn't find what you wanted IN town (now you don't even
have to go into town to get most anything), but they're gone forever and, even with a soft economy, the "Americanizing" of the area will continue,
often exponentially.
The same is true where I live in El Norte. We've got all of these "activists" running around petitioning and trying to stop businesses from locating,
but the ship has sailed. It's over.
Time to Accept or move on.

I have always enjoyed San Felipe And yes it has changed for the bad . the Americanization of places like San Felipe ultimately kills them just go over
to the pacific side of Mexico and check out the ruins of tourist meccas of the past. They cant grasp why the tourist dollar is so fickle. Tourist come
and demand change then they leave because of it.

Not to mention a name, but is that all you have?
A bottom feeder taking the low road. Where ever your
comfort level is. Not surprising considering the
and acumen level (look it up). I didn't realize what a brutal,
harsh, environment living in Baja is. You can't get delivery
of your granite countertop or flat screen? You would probably
sit by the side of the HWY with a flat tire, frantically
calling the Tourist Line to get the Green Angels to change it
for you, now that is CONVENIENCE. Consider coming back to
the US or cancel your plans to move south, where you will

For a few of you...take note:
There's several items that I need for our Baja place...but cannot haul it down for a lack of open truck bed.....
There are retired folks in SF.....I am talking about 75-85 year olds. You expect them to run down to Mexicali?
For those that dont like change. Well...I dont either....but I sure as hell enjoy paved roads, gas stations and other items of comfort. Get real...you
do too

If you shop Costco Mexicali, you will see that 99% of the customers are Mexican and many have flats - sometimes 2 or 3 loaded with products for their
stores or other businesses.
