Most of you, I suppose, remember when the empty bottles were worth as much as the beer inside of them. We would take the last case of the season to the deposito and trade the 20 empties for 10 full ones. Sit on the steps and drink those 10 and trade them in for 5 full ones. Trade those empties in for 2 more and a smile, then trade and fight over the last full bottle and drive or sail off across the border.

Some version of that experience might still work...

NINE cases... now was that just from a week, a month, or a year of drinking beer? lol

Do people in Mexico make their own beer like we do here in Ontario, Canada? That's what we'd do with them.

Beer in Canada costs around $35 per case at store but in Mexico it is around $15. No reason to brew your own

Interesting when a government feels the need to make more profit in taxes on a product's sales, than the people who make the product!!

Gasoline also comes to mind... the government makes about 3 times the profit on a gallon of gas than the oil companies... But the governemnt blames the oil companies for their profits!!!

We used to buy from the deposito back in the 80s' & 90's in Primo Tapia and the owner would sign the box with date and price for easy returns because he knew us by sight but we never had receipts. We were back in two or three or four times over a weekend. Now we just take down some nice cabernets and pinots or some bubbly. :smug:
