mulege vs santispac

I'm just curious. When Mulege floods what is the weather like at Santispac and Playa Burro?

They sometimes get wind damage and some flooding from tidal surge, depending on how close to the water they are, but not always.

Hurricane Jimena

The whole Mulege region was affected.

I have a CD of the flood water in Mulege, the water is nearly up to road level on the bridge.

My favorite palapa at Santispac was wiped out a few storms past.

After. One post left standing

The Orchard in Mulege and along the road didn't do to well, although those who hung in cleaned and repaired seem to be doing OK now.

Thanks. It isn't that I expect a storm but when our daughter and grandkids come to visit they will most likely camp at Santispac. They would not be happy with dad/granddad if they woke up floating out to sea!! Ron

One of the storms almost wiped out Mulege but didn't touch our plapa or anyone elses in Santispac which was right on the water.

A hurricane or tropical storm is suffered regionally over a large geographic area and is not town- or beach-specific.

You might wish to be aware of the National Hurricane Storm Warnings on the internet: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/index.shtml?epac

As someone who actually weathered the last 7 years of hurricanes, tropical storms and resultant flooding in Mulege or just the imminent warning of same (which means the highways may be cut off, evacuation to shelters, food & water rationing, military & civilian intervention)... well, it ain't for the faint of heart and it will sure ruin a nice vacation.

Please come and enjoy yourselves, the Sea of Cortez water is at its best that time of year and you'll have the beaches to yourselves. Just be prepared to Pack Up and GO NORTH if the weather turns wonky!

Boy, you got that right. We were going to sell and move back up this way anyway. Too far from the states (Dr) and really scary roads. We got just about what we had invested in the place cause it had a nice travel trailer with it.

The Gringo palapas at Santispac were torn down after eviction. The the palapas at Pta Arena were torched instead of eviction. That's what I understand anyway.

We had what you could call a yard sale. Sold everything we could. Several of our neighbors took there plapas apart and everything they could and moved and rebuilt at coyote bay. Most of us were long gone before they burnt anything. Some people just moved back to the states but we weren't burned out. Had plenty of notice
