Surf Fishing Los Barriles?

Thinking of going to Los Barriles for a week in early Sep and stay at Villas de Cortez next to Palmas de Cortez hotel. Will be there a week and will go out at least once in a boat but enjoy walking the beach and surf fishing most of all, what can expect to catch at that time of year, best bait / lures to use, and what areas along the beach should I fish? Also are there any guides that specialize in surf fishing and or inshore fishing in that area? Thanks everyone

dtbushpilot is the resident pro shore fisherman and guide. I don't know if he's down here now but if he is he can put you on to some good fish (tiny but good).

Beautiful place to stay and fish. Off shore is one of the best for blue water species, marlin, sailfish, tuna, dorado, etc. Walking the shore line a mile north or south from the hotel and casting Crocodile spoons will get you Roosters, Sea Bass, Jacks, Sierra, maybe a dorado. Just watch for the diving pelicans and bait fish and cast into the action. Maybe someone else can suggest a local guide, I'm sure the hotel staff can help setting you up with local fishermen. Early Sept. will be HOT, so take a hat, sun block and long sleeve shirts. Also be aware that Sept. is prime hurricane season in southern Baja, just a heads up.

Palma/Villas de Cortez folks have a fishing and water sports (tours, scuba, etc.) program and front desk will be able to help.

Just got back to the computer after a trip North.
I haven't been shooting wee birds but I fully intend to some day....just like all the other stuff I intend to do some day. I did buy an extra box of pellets today though.
As for fishing from the beach, you should be able to catch roosters and jacks along with lady fish and who knows what that time of the year, fishing should be good. I should be there in Buena Vista in September and would be glad to take you beach fishing. u2u me before you leave and we can discuss.....dt

btw: yes drarroyo, I am a big man, thanks for noticing.....I think...
