Flying out of SJD airport question
Can anyone help a brother out? What is needed besides a passport to fly out of San Jose del Cabo, back to the US, Oakland or SF.? I am hoping to drive
down and fly back, and I have never flown before, in or out of Baja. Thanks, Ron

The tourist visa you got when you crossed into Mexico. Airport is the only place I've ever had anyone look at it....and they won't let you go without
it.

Not only will you need a US passport but you will also need the FMM you are required to get at the border...when you come that far south.
I fly out of SJD all the time, I have seen and also been asked by Federal Police for my FMM when I walk through the front door. With a big smile I
tell them in Spanish I have a FM-3 and keep walking. If you do not have the FMM your airline can and probably will charge you a fine up to $100
USD...that is what I was told by a ticket agent.

Yep. Do not even think about traveling down by land without obtaining the FMM at the border, because the personnel at the airline counters will NOT
issue you a boarding pass until you surrender it to them.

Yes, at the border ('something to declare lane') OR at Discover Baja Travel Club... but you still need to stop at the border to have it validated!

Visa is not needed for 3 days and less only if he stays in Fronteriza zone. Going South of Ensenada checkpoint requires a visa, even for 1 day.

One exception to the rule...
Some friends were arriving in CSL via a 15 day Florida/Pananma Canal/ LA cruise. They wanted to get together the day they would be in town plus asked
how their nephew could get from the marina to the airport. He needed to get back to work before the cruise ended. After answering that question I
explained to our frined his nephew would need a FMM to give to the airline when departing out of SJD or he may have to pay a fine.
A couple of days later our friend sent of an email thanking us for bringing it to their attention their nephew would need the FMM. He reported the
cruise company would be giving his nephew a letter/form stating the passenager has been on a cruise and not staying in the country of Mexico. With
that letter/form the young man did not need the FMM. Basically the cruise company explained that by being on a cruise a passenager qualifies for the
"72 hour" rule.

Right you are.
If you don't have one when you arrive at the airport, you will have one that you paid twice-the-price-you-could-have- gotten-it-at-the-border-for by
the time you get on a plane. Been there, done that.
