Gratitude, update and the Baja equivalent of the PennySaver?
It's been a very interesting dive into things Baja for me, and this list has helped tremendously. Thank you!
I've decided initially to shoot for a place in Rosarito that I like, learning and living while staying close to my home in southern CA. I figure I
will learn the most by being in Mexico, and that I will find opportunities there that I won't on my day trips and surfing the net.
I'm funny in that I want to find a place once and not move, lol. I am growing, though, and see that having a place I'm not soul committed to is okay.
I can look for something ideal and take my time about it.
So, the place I like has w/d hookups, but no washer or dryer. Those I will have to purchase. Is there an MX equivalent of the Penny Saver? (It's a
little weekly magazine that lists things for sale by private parties) I'm looking for used and working condition, don't need anything fancy. I don't
have the place yet, but a resource like that will be good for many things, I think.
Any other ideas on purchasing appliances? I can get them inexpensively here in LA county, but don't think it would be hassle free to drive across with
them, nor am I sure about the hook-ups being the same.

A place south of Rosarito on the highway called Machado. Over the years I have purchased reconditioned and 'nearly' new appliances of all types
without incident. Prices are more than fair, they deliver and service after the sale.
I highly recommend them.

We have bought appliances from him for the last ten years; he comes out to your place and then buys, delivers and installs what you agreed on, at a
fair price. (And hauls away the old item, but that is not your issue.)
He goes to the maquilas, the border factories, and gets deals on the "damaged goods" (scratches, etc.)
He bought, delivered and installed our GE Prpfile oven a couple of months ago.
He does not speak much English, if that is a concern.

Jan, thanks. My Spanish is still toddler level. My two kids still at home are bilingual, though. I find that when I make an effort, I am very well
received. Shouldn't be an issue.

I agree about Machado-nice guy and we purchased all of our appliances from him-no problemas!
