El Marmol
Hello fellow Nomads, I have been to the site several times over the years, and brought back 1 or 2 pieces of onyx. Now that I am retired and doing
some very amature sculpting, can anyone tell me how much onyx i might bring home without setting off alarms at the border? Remember we are only
talking about what one old guy can pick up and put in the van.

I don't think rocks are restricted items but you can search further on line. I looked here and didn't see anything about rocks. Gold and soil were the
closest.

A side note under alcohol it does not say 1 quart as I've been told at the border, it says it depends on the state and what limit they may have,
perhaps CA has a 1 qt limit.

If you wash the rocks and remove any dirt or soil you should be OK

My guess would be-like Mexico-it just depends on who sees them, what kind of mood they were in, what bosses they needed to impress, and how busy they
are. Put em in a box out of sight and I bet they would be the least of your worries.
Rocks? You are looking for terrorists, guns, drugs, and illegals and you wanna bust me for some rocks???

I usually take home Sulfur rocks that I get from an area south of San Felipe. Never a issue......I leave the rocks in plain sight ...not like I an
trying to hide them.
Oh...the kids love the rocks...when I lite them on fire.
Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

It's one liter in CA IF you live in CA. If you live in another state, there's no specific limit. You just have to declare anything over a liter and
pay duty.
All my childhood I wanted to be older. Now I\'m older and this chitn sucks.

I have several large pieces of El Marmol onyx decorating my home... Nothing is ever said by U.S. customs about any rocks I have returned from Baja.
