House Insurance Recommendations?
Can anyone recommend a good homeowners insurance agent down here in southern BCS? I have been using International Insurance Services out of Cabo.
Since Kathy Smith sold out to a group of Mexico City folks my insurance has doubled in 4 years. No claims, no hurricanes, no change in coverages.
thanks....

Hurricane John damaged alot of homes in southern baja, esp East Cape! Don't know details but I dropped my hurricane clause because of it was the
reason my quote was higher than before!! I am forced to take my chances but I don't live right on the beach altho 1/2 mile might or might not make
a difference? Let us know if you find a reasonable policy which includes Hurricane coverage. Thanks Tio

Pay attention to the deductibles, on most of the ones I've seen, it's so high that it's not worth buying.

You should carefully read the limits of coverage Mexico Home Owners Policies are different than in the U.S.
For instance the Windows, Cabinets, and several other big ticket items are considerd personal property also if the type of building materal is not
clearly stated they may assume it is block. thusly you would be under insured. On my house the personal property coverage almost meets the structal
dollar value.

Home Owners Insurance
We went with "InBursa". Call Carlos Echegollen at 122-0417 (612)
Their coverage vs. price was very good, a company owned by Mr. Slim I was told, should be financially sound...They are located about half a block
inland from the Bancomer on Isabela la Catolica.
Too late in the season for hurricane/flood insurance but I got very good coverage for a large house + casita and "personal property" + earthquake for
less than $400 per year.
AXA was similar but less coverage, Bancomer was way overpriced for the same product (4x). If you have an alarm system there is a good discount.
Friends of mine in the Cayman Islands were faced with stupid-huge premiums for hurricane insurance, to the point that they decided to "bank" it
themselves. They just put the money away instead of paying the insurance company and they have done well EVEN with the loss of a boat and a roof. They
are still ahead. I may consider that myself and install hurricane shutters. Voila!

I realize this lady isn't in BCS but myself and many of my friends and others in Chivato have gone with her. She is very responsive speaks English and
explains the policy very well. I think Dennis recommended a long time ago to me here on BN.
