You will need to have a notarized letter from her parents giving you permission to bring her into Mexico.. and of course her passport... Chances are you will not be asked at the border crossing in to Mex but you never know....

Passport is not manditory, specially for little kids... but the birth certificate and the notorized letter is a must (or a really good idea). I was never asked for the letter entering Mexico with my kids but without the kids mother. Twice we brought my son's friends into Mexico (with the letter) but never stopped at the border for it. Returning to the U.S. was also never an issue.

i bring kids down...

remember mexicans are family people...
they love kids and when grandma is there it's even better

in fact...when you get your visitor visa
ask if they will add the grandchild to you visa

they can do this and it'll save you 21 bucks

My grandkids are 10 and 7 and we used to take a "parent permission" letter, I haven't bothered in the last few years - no problem. I carry their birth certificates and hand them to US officers when we return, no problems there either.

Get the passports. You may need them in case of air flight (!).

Retain current pictures of both these kids in your procession.....should one get lost or ........? Make two copies.

Yes...get the written permission letters from BOTH parents. It fast and cheap to do. Notarized. Make two copies.

Get a notarized letter that YOU or your better half.....can make decisions of medical emergency. Dont leave home with it! Stuff happens en-route TO Baja too......Make two copies.

Dont have their names printed on their backpacks, shirts, whatever.

Most important.....take at least one case of Kraft Mac and Cheese !!!!!!!!!!

I take my kids and their friends, my grand kids to Baja and to the Mainland all the time. GB is a perfect spot for them.

Thanks everyone...
Deno...right on about the Mac and cheese...not sure she's ready for my Triggerfish tacos on the beach

?Visa? we have been to GB x 6...cross over at San Luis or Algodones and have never gotten nor been asked for a visa or fmt???

even when we went all the way to Sag Ignacio on our 1st trip..we were asked about the FMT at the Guererro Negro checkpoint, but told him the border crossing was closed for holiday when we passed and except for turning in our fruits and veggies and paying for the "germicidal trcuk wash..no problem

Does that include the guys that behead their enemy's and hang them from the hyway bridge in TJ. The leave the women and children out of conflicts stopped in the 80's when 19 men women and children were murdered in El Sauzal, I drove through on the next day, on a surf trip. Young kids get bored just looking at sunrises and the beach, at least mine did, bring some surf fishing gear and get them involved or leave them at home.

Sorry to hear your grand daughter can't make it. I'm sure she would have enjoyed it. Maybe pops will loosen up.

doubtful..he's a great dad...but pretty hard nosed about some stuff...we'll keep using the sideways approach...raving about how much we like it...the great folks we travel with...the threads on this site...YOUR videos got a WOW from Mom.....we'll see

its kinda like trying to talk our other friends into this trip...we jsut keep raving about it...and they either get the message or they dont

important part is that WE always have a great time

see ya guys soon...any other word about your wives coming...Sharon gets a little antsy when she is the only gal there...kinda feels like a 3rd wheel

Yea, I know daughters are precious. Parents rule and that only right. Still don't know for sure about the wives, but Sharon knows we don't bite. See ya in Oct.

This is a really good list of the "To-Dos" when it comes to traveling south of the border with others' children. (Especially the mac n' cheese bit...:) )
