ACCESS TO US SITES
Hi all, I know there is another thread about this very topic BUT I remember that way back when (in another thread that I can't find), someone
explained how to get your computer to think it is registered in the U.S.
For some reason, as of yesterday, we cannot even log into Sears anymore !!!
so, if someone can explain how to get around this - we would be most appreciative.

Google "VPN". There are many providers of this type of service. I've looked at Strongvpn.com which is a pay for service site, but I think there are
sites with free service as well.
Experience enables you to recognize a mistake every time you repeat it.

We use "Strongvpn" for everything from banking to Hulu/Netflix. The hubby is in charge of that department but I believe the cost is $55 US yearly.
He said the customer/tech service is very good...one thing the "free vpn" didn't offer.

Hi BajaBlanca,
You can also use a proxy server and to emulate a US based IP address (or any other location for that matter). The sites are actualy looking at the IP
location, which then triggers the block. A really good app that I recommend and use all the time is Easy Hide IP. It's a free download and very easy
to install and use. It allows me to quickly designate and swtich to a US based proxy if I have trouble. The app is small and easy to launch without
bloating system resources and chewing up memory. There are no annoying pop ups or bad adware. All in all it's a great little free app that can't be
beat.

It gets four out of five stars in the user reviews.
There are also paid proxy servers available that will add enhanced security features if you like. Google "Proxy Server Reviews" to learn more.

I use HotSpot Shield, from Anchorfree.com it's a free download that shields your IP address so sites can't tell you aren't in the USA.
it does come with lots of popups which are pretty annoying. but when I encounter a site that won't open, it's quite useful to have.
reality\'s never been of much use out here...

I'm also a Telmex Infinitum user, could not view the Bahia Muertes pics so downloaded the above Easy Hide IP. Now I can see the pictures, but
unfortunately the software is only a 3 day free trial.

Your right, Easy Hide IP is no loger a totally freeware app.

It used to be, but at $29.95 it's still a good deal and cheaper than a lot of other paid Proxies. Espeically since some of the other software is
really bloated and can slow your system down, particually if it cannot be quickly activated an deactivated for use only when needed.
You can surf around on Cnet for other totally freeware aslo. Just be sure to read the user reviews. Everyone who posts is giving firsthand feedback,
which helps tremendously in sorting out the good from the bad.

What kind of Internet connection do you have?
I thought you were on Starband or Hughes?
If you are using a Mexican ISP, check out http://witopia.net . Subscribe, and follow their instructions for setup.
If you ARE on Starband or Hughes, you already have a U.S. ISP, and there's some other problem. What's the message you are receiving?

Interesting, most websites from the US being blocked by Telmex, are direct competitors of Carlos Slims businesses here in Mexico.
I think its pretty stupid what they are doing.
