Has anybody ever seen Mexicali on the map¿

There is a site Maryanninmexicali, something close to
that, a couple living there. Seems a bit of a hard
scrabble place. Driven thru many times, don't think
I would consider living there. I would choose TJ
over Mexicali

The Mexicans refer to Mexicali as "Infierno". That's all I really need to know.

Cold in the winter, hot in the summer.

I like Mexicali. It's hotter than San Felipe in the summer - maybe 10-15 deg, Cooler in the winter by about the same amount, but If I wanted a city
near the border, that's probably where I would go.

I have family in Mexicali, its like they put a city in the middle of nowhere, bad weather, nothing to do. About the only thing i would miss if
Mexicali was destroyed by an earthquake, is their Chinese food.

I go to Mexicali a lot but not in summer if at all possible just like I now get away from Brawley in the summer, just too dang HOT!! I take off for
Rosarito area for those months now. So, from June to middle of October stay away but then all is good in Mexicali, especially after you know your way
around.
I use doctors and pharmacy there with good results. I go to numerous places to eat and yes Chinese food down there cannot be beat! They also
numerous clubs to go for entertainment which the Valley has very little to choose from. They also have numerous events all year long for more things
to do, just depends on what you like to do. Have not had any real problems in Mexicali and I have been going down there for over 40 years. Take

I started driving through Nuevo Mexicali and it is very nice. It feels and looks like the US.
The homes are extremely large and luxurious.

Being a big city over one million people, Mexicali is worth a visit.
1) visit the 'old town,' including Chinatown
2) nightclub district along Ave. Rio Cajeme, on the Eastside
3) a big shopping mall
4) two big parks; one with a zoo. Another with a big sports center near the university.
5) view the Baja State Capitol building and judicial complex
Fun to visit in Winter when the weather is nice.

I don't think the "yikes" about eating dinner in Tijuana applies these days. Tijuana, from all accounts, has experienced something of a renaissance
with really good restaurants, shopping, spiffing up and lots to do. It isn't a city of just the red light district and jokes anymore. Even Bobby
Flay, well known chef who visited recently, said he was astounded at how nice it was and nothing like he had "heard". So, with everything, seeing is
believing.

Well maybe you need to apologize to us all....for coming in here with your insulting remarks toward us...half a year ago. Fat lady in a red
car.....drunks...so on. Then I'll leave you alone. Till then....I will just keep reminding all here that you're a insulting punk.

Family just returned to Mulege from a week in Mexicali.
They could not WAIT to get back south-- said Mexicali made the sweletering summers in Mulege seem like eating ice cream in Alaska-- Mexicali's HOT!
That being said, brother-in-law had extensive dental repairs done in a clinic in Mexicali
and is very, very pleased. Anybody interested, I'll share doctor's contact information. u2u me.
Also, Dr. Manuel Cota the veterinarian from Sta. Rosalia trained at the University of Mexicali. Because of the city's proximity to the US many of its
professors are educated in the states
so students benefit, he says.

We lived in El Centro for 13 years----------went to Mexicali all the time----at least 5 times a month, mostly to dine at night, winter and summer.
Great restaurants, if you know where they are. The more I went to Mexicali the more I liked it.
But it has been quite a few years, now, since I have been there.
It is a BIG CITY, so take that into consideration!!! Like the Imperial Valley, winters are heaven, weatherwise, but summers from May 15 to Sept 15th
+ - are BRUTAL, as is the entire Imperial / Mexicali Valley. We are talking 115+ days, and 90 degree nights, in mid-summer. It's those HOT nights
that really get too you.
We are a little crazy, and we loved it.
Barry
