To be more precise, it is a cross between Los Angeles and Bakersfield, but without the Crystal Palace.

Only with the A/C fully charged and blowing at jet speed. The upside is that you can buy a frozen pizza at the market, duct tape it down on top of the roof of your car and it's ready to eat by the time you get home...

Ohh yeah....you like to use that Convection Heat. I prefer the enclosed oven type for my cooking, so I leave a raw turkey in the trunk for no longer than two trips to the beer store and it's ready to be served.

 That's funny! I got the same response from a friend in San Felipe once. We were talking on the phone and I told him that it was 18F here in WA. There was a long pause and then he asked, "How do you breathe??" Guess it all depends on what you are use to!!

Whenever I hear that rainy, chill wind blow. I think it may be time to head for Mexico. Tengo que obedecer mi corazon!

In 13 years in El Centro I do not believe that the "official" temp ever exceeded 120 degrees, and that was extremely rare. 110 to 115 was more common.

My back yard weather station confirmed those "official" readings, but sure, in the sun, outlandish temps are a reality--------nobody sits out in the sun in summer in the Imperial/Mexicali Valley except mad-dogs and Englishmen!!! and the unfortunate Farm Workers.

Living in the Imperial Valley for the past 19 years one gets to know Mexicali very well. There are great restaurants, people and entertainment in this town.

The desert West of Mexicali is an off roaders paradise. I have participated in quite a few races in the laguna salada. I'm fortunate enough have have made some lifetime friends that live in Mexicali. Yes, in the summer it is hot hot and hotter. Fortunately they have some nice places where the beer is super ice cold like Heidelberg restaurant and La Conga ( best chavelas anywhere). The taco stands are pretty hard to beat anywhere in Mexico and evryone knows about the Chinese restaurants.

We like the winter baseball and follow the aguilas when in season. These games are a blast with lots of good entertainment and food at reasonable prices. Also the bakeball team Soles are another great sporting event. Fiestas de Sol is a great event put on during the fall.

It is like anything in life, it's what you make out of it and put into it

Mexicali

When closing the house in Gonzaga and driving home we stop in SF except for easter and race weekends when we go to mexicali and get a room (cheaper than SF) and a meal ( Cheaper than SF)and cross to the states early . not in the summer smarter than that.

Absolutely!! I only like Chinese food out of two places, Won Kok in L.A.'s Chinatown and the other is Mexicali.
