bringing solar equipment to baja
newbee- finished building house in punta chivato. will be driving there to bring my pickup, solar equipment, genset etc.
is there a limit on what i can bring? willing to declare and pay fees.

if you exceed a couple of grand you need a broker
otay mesa has brokers right there and will assist if the regular people say you need them
have a receipt
you'll be fine
it always amazes me
they make solar panels in tj but
you can ( can not )buy them there
they HAVE to be imported from the usa
go figure

You will be going many time just take a little each time, maybe mount them on the top of your truck and tell them it to charge your truck batteries.

you can buy them here but 4x the price
you cant but the ones made at the tj plant
i tried 
you must import them
remember when you smuggle big stuff you can still be stopped after you cross
then you can lose your truck and everything else...
its way better to 'do the right thing'
don't listen to advice saying 'slip it thru'
if the chineese were 'slippin it thru' in the usa
wouldnt you be peeed...

I gotta agree with Bob on this...do not break any Mexican laws. Unlike the USA, they will enforce them to the limit and then some.
I think you should visit with a good import expert who is also a legal beagle..give him your list of solar equip you want to bring and he can itemize
the costs for you. I know of no LIMITS on solar equipment you bring, but it most likely will not exceed what I have brought through Mexican customs
and paid taxes on over the years.
Many, many 130watt Kyocera panels, 2-4500 watt inverters, solar batt. controllers, 5.5 kw genset, 12 kw genset, 28 large solar batteries, meters of
cable and hvy ga. wire...and the list keeps mounting....as does the cost.
An amigo on the East Cape imported over $175,000 in solar equipment for his waterfront home...so you see, the sky is your limit...which I believe was
your question, right?

How does the declaration procedure work if you don't have a receipt for used equipment? Say you buy a complete, used-but-nearly-new solar system from
a private party on Craiglist and you want to haul all the components down at once, yet at the same time you want to pay the legitimately owed duties,
or taxes, or tariffs, or whatever they are called and declare everything legally.
How do Mexican Customs agents assess value on used equipment without a store-bought receipt? Anyone know the procedure?
