Ultra Low Sulphur Content Diesel (ULSD) Again!
I'm shopping for a new truck. It will be an 2011 or 2012 Super Duty F350 crewcab 4x4.
The post below is the last information Antonio from BajaCactus posted regarding this information. I have a vacation home below San Felipe but does
anyone know if the ULSD is available in San Felipe/Mexicali? I've read that the fuel on the Pacific side as far as El Rosario is ULSD.
I've also read that the fuel in Northern Baja comes from the U.S. because it's too far to transport from the Mainland. Mexicali and San Felipe is
close to the Mainland...

Every gas station within Norther Baja has been selling ULSD (with 15ppm or less of Sulfur Content) for a few years now. Our last shipment at
BajaCactus, yesterday, came with 3ppm of Sulfur Content.
Diesel in Southern Baja is LSD (with 500ppm or less of Sulfur Content)... I do not have the Pemex schedule for the upgrade to ULSD in South Baja, but
last I asked they were already working on it.

I'm currently shopping the Internet for a good/used Dodge, GMC, or Ford diesel from the years 2004-2007. 1-ton 4WD manual dually would be my first
choice, but an auto single like yours would be okay, too. What's the tranny?
Mostly I want a hwy-duty diesel puller with low miles (less than 85,000) with appropriate tranny to handle 24,000 lb. package: boat, fifth wheel, tow
vehicle.
Pulling is important, but braking will save your bacon.
Allison and Cummins combo would be my choice, but dang hard to find used.
Opps...I meant 24,000lbs not 15,000. I forget easily these days....

I'm thinking about $25K for this truck. Private party KBB.com shows higher. I'd put this truck in very good condition. It is a Lariat model with
Automatic trans w/overdrive.

That's a good price for that Ford, BW. Somebody will snap it up soon, I betcha.
I like Ford Powerstrokes and the tow package tranny, but am a Dodge nut right now..due to the Cummins powerhouse mostly, certainly not thier notorious
trannies of 99 - 03.
Will do some heavy thinking about yours, however. Would it be kosher to put a Dodge insignia on the hood?

Thank you very much for that information Don Jorge!
I will now keep my eyes open for that information on the pumps. If we don't drive the truck other than from the Border to our Beach House and back
again to the Border we don't need a fuel fillup.
I do want to buy the fuel as it is a lot cheaper and that makes the long weekend trips more affordable but don't want to compromise the truck.

My old mechanically injected Toyota diesel loved the fuel in Baja Sur. The engine is much less noisy with the higher sulfur content fuel. I don't
have a particulate filter to plug up, or a computer with emissions sensors to complain.

you guys HAVE to remember THIS...
diesel with sulfur works just fine in new trucks!!!
if the manufacture told people this
then their somg tax to the government
would go up and
they'd make less PROFIT!!!
mexican diesel works in ANY truck...geeezzzz

How many miles did you get with your Old Beat UP Dodge truck with that fuel? I keep hearing stories about plugged up Catalytic convertors, bearing
failures, and the likes, but never can you trace those stories down any closer than my brother's best friend who had an Uncle who knew a guy that had

2 trucks 100k each
there was a system that burned the suit
to clean the filter stuff
the ONLY problems were a lift pump that all the trucks had problems with
and
brakes : )
but that was my fault for 'hauling'

When a large purchase is made you want to protect the investment... This HAS been going on for years and a lot of people are still in the dark on this
matter.

I am lucky enough to spend 6 plus months in Los Barriles.I had a 08 ford F350 for 2 Years and never had a problem with the fuel. The tranny on it blew
up in Cabo and I had a wonderfull time getting it back to the states. After Lemon lawing the beast I took my funds and bought a 08 chevy 250 I took
that down last year and never had a bit of trouble.
I sweated blood 4 years ago about the fuel and just wenr for it. Dont sweat it and go for it.
