prescription changed

My American doctor just took me off Omeprazol i(20 mg) and put me on Prevacid (15mg) I've been buying the Omeprazol now for over 15 years in Loreto when I'm there. Will I be able to find the equivalent to Prevacid down there? anyone using Prevacid (over the counter by the way)
Thanks
Baja, here we come!!!! Next month.

Hi Phil

I live in CSL and I am not able to buy it here. Bring mine in from the USA...I never leave home without it! Prevacid has "Lansoprazole" which use to require an Rx but is now OTC, thank goodness.

Karen. I looked up the generic term for Prevacid. It's called Ogastro for Mexico. Next time your at a farmacia, please check this out for me and see how much they are & the mg's count, and the number of pills in the container. That will help me know whether I need to bring a 5 week supply with me when I come down to Cabo in November.
Thanks.
Phil

Thanks for the info Phil. I will be going to both Costco and Wal-Mart at the end of the week so I will start there. If they don't have it then I will try some other farmacias and let you know.

Phil,
I have been on Prilosec/Omeprazole for 20 years. This spring I bought a year's supply of Omeprazole in Mulege. Very reasonable! The capsules are more effective for me than Prilosec OTC.

Just curious...why did your doctor change you to Previcid? You can U2U me if you don't want to put your reason on the forum.
Tony

For those curious of the switch. Ended years of loose stools problem. Which occationally proved very challenging, getting through the border lines getting back into the states. Often considered carrying a port a pottie in the back of my mini van. Now, I dont have to deal with that problem. Wonder what new experiences lay ahead for someone 77 years young.
