I have visited it a few times in the recent past and came away 100% sad and angry, not how I like to be. I just couldn't believe how the families there could so completely trash out such a beautiful place.
As a side note, in the 60's I took my old '51 Willys Jeep, and from the freeway I drove a steep dirt road to the top of the mountains. Up there on a grassy field was the most beautiful hacienda I have ever seen, just classic Mexican rancho. Out of respect, I did not approach it, but the image in my mind is something I will never forget. I am sure that dirt road would have eventually hit the "free road" on the other side. My guess is that that dirt road was the only way in for a long long time before the toll road was built. How Salsipuedes earned its name.
