horse/large animal vet in Ensenada area?

Hi

We are having a problem with our paint gelding that needs seeing to. He has been on antibiotics for 6-7 days now but a hard lump/swelling on his chest is not going away. We are afraid he may have a foreign object lodged in there and that the infection will come back once the drugs wear off.
Anyone know of a good vet with experience with Equines in the Ensenada area? We have some feelers out already but nothing back yet.

Mike....If you call Dr. Eduardo Diaz, he'll be able to steer you in the right direction. Eduardo is my dog's vet....and good.
His assistant's name is Elena and she knows her way around as well. She's from the states, and Eduardo speaks stateside English.

I know an excellent large animal vet in the Rosarito/Primo Tapia area. If you can't find one closer give me a shout.

Sounds like your horse may have pigeon fever. Paste this {pigeon fever} into Google images.....see if it's a match.

WARNING: THE PICTURES THAT WILL COME UP CAN BE VERY UPSETTING TO SOME. THIS IS NOT A JOKE.

We drain the mass (yuck)...and keep the horse on antibiotics. Pigeon fever can be extremely negative if left untended. ....

Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

Thanks for the possible contacts guys!

Today we drove down to San Quintin on the referral of our dentist Hector Macedo in VG as he has horses too. We talked to a vet in SQ who specializes in horses and large animals, and got a contact no. of apparently the best equine vet in Baja who is from Mexicali. This vet has portable X-ray machine and an ultrasound and will travel all over Baja. I guess the only equine studies school is in mexicali. So if we do have to get a "house call" we can be assured he has all the necessary equipment. A lot of the local general vets only have the basic stuff.

McFez thanks for that, it could be an early form of the disease which thankfully has not progressed to that point yet. We got right on it with anti-inflammatories and procaine G penicillan.

EQUINE ENCEPHALITIS can cause a very large swollen lump on the front of the chest! Horrible virus carried by mosquitoes.

Please keep us informed on the out come of your horse...I certainly wish the ol' boy (or girl) all the best of luck.
