distilled water?
Hi all,
Up until recently you could get "agua para plancha" (for ironing) at WalMart. But it seems they have stopped for a while. Short of going up to the
otro lado just for that anybody have a source in Ensenada? You can get that yellow acidified water at the refraccionarias but of course that does not
work in deep cycle batteries for solar power...

How much would you need?
I suppose if you had to you could distill your own.

Its always good to have a gallon or 2 on hand Dave. I have seen distillers on Amazon, but they range in price from $200-500. Not worth it in my
opinion!

What could be so delicate that it couldn't use purified water? Surely not an iron.

dennis:
many tough things are delicate.
if you ever ironed your clothes, you would know that dissolved solids in water leaves mineral residues in irons, on ironed clothes.
try pouring seawater in your lead-acid battery and see how long it lasts.
most closed-loop steam systems use distilled water (steam heat systems, steam turbines).
distilled or low-TDS water is better for your cars cooling system than ensenada or colorado river tap water

Here you go....I just searched it on San Diego Craigslist. $67 and it's yours.

Might be okay for any of us solar home owners.
Let me know if you want it, I'll check to see if it's still for sale....then I can carry it down to wherever you can meet me on Baja 1. Should be
passing by around Nov 2nd...or so..
I do what the voices in my tackle box tell me.

I buy distilled water by the gallon at our local market here in San Quintin. I use it to top off our batteries...

Smart & Final in Rosarito
Has distilled water in gallon containers.
Also, they stock it at the Mega Comercial Mexicana (Pelican) store.
Hubby needs it for his CPAP.
Sorry, I have no info about its availability in Ensenada.

I am pretty sure a de-humidifier's water is mineral free. Just make sure you don't use it for human consumption.

For years I've been using either collected rainwater or A/C condensation water for my golfcart and car batteries.
Seems to be working just fine.

Thanks for the heads up on the craigslist unit Pompano but for now I'll stick to buying it in gallon jugs. I'll look at Commercial Mexicana and
Smart&Final in Ensenada.

R/O should be fine. A good unit will remove virtually all the minerals, which are the problem since the stay behind after evaporation.

I saw some distilled water in gallons at that marine store and repair place across from customs/immigration in the port area of Ensenada.
