Ensenada... Where to buy Beer?

Coming down for the race. I usually try to get a good deal on a 30 pack of what ever before I come down to share with my mexican friends. This time I was thinking about picking some up in Ensenada.
Just wondering about price, brand and where ie:Walmart, Costco or "the pelican store".
How much are the good old 20 bottle cases of Pacifico costing these days?

Where is modelo-rama? - or is it one of your secret spots?

Tecate and Modelo Agency Beer Stores Map

Ensenada Interactive Map
Seems like the deposit bottles are the most economic way to buy beer In Ensenada.
1. The Tecate Agency is on Reforma, west side, just after the Pemex on Estancia(leads from Costero at beach 1/2 mile to Reforma)
2. The Modelo Agency is further south on Reforma, just past WalMart, west side, across from Commercial Mexicana Grocery.

I prefer the taste of Pacificos, so most Nomads know they will be served those Ballenas when pestering me. A case of 12 x 940ml are now 204 pesos. Guessing 100 pesos for the deposit? I forget, as it has been years since I made my deposit for my rolling 2 case inventory.

They quit packing the 20's. It's 24 now. I don't know anybody who messes with the returnables any more. What a pain.
Best prices on beer are in the big markets. Can't tell you prices. I never look.

I still mess with the returnables, but it appears their days are numbered.

Looks like N. Modelo has gone over to the ND/NR bottles. That really leaves only Pacifico and Pac Light, in the 355ml size. Tecate stopped doing deposit on the Red and the Light over here. Ballenas and Caguamas are still deposit.........but I am generally not popping them for a cold one.

BTW, I was at a Halloween party Saturday night and it appear TKT has gone back to the 325ml bottles for their ND/NR "longnecks". Didnt they used to be 355 like the Modelo brands?

No matter. I've been completely converted to Modelo products now. Except that, when I am forced to drink beer from cans (boating, pool parties, any activity in direct sun), TKT Light is very refreshing.

Results...

I picked up a case of 1.2 liter Pacifico Ballenons for 330 pesos
Deposit was 88 pesos. I knew to get that piece of paper with the deposit price written down. That works out to
330 - 88 = 242/12 =20.17 per bottle in pesos
20.17/13.67(amount I puchcase pesos for at border)=$1.47 per bottle or .44 per 12 ounces!
1.2 liters = 40.5768272 US fluid ounces
Now to take that one step further
30 pack of Miller Hi Life purchased NOB 14.99 plus .05 per can for crv and of course 9.5% sales tax makes it a grand total of 59.7cents per can...
Now it was a chore to drink all 12 Ballenons in 9 days but I managed with a little help from my friends...

Nope.........unless you're really out in the boonies. Bloody Marys in a restaurant are sometimes served in plastic cups, but the law is strict and liquor licenses are expensive as hell.

No way to buy in the stores. Registers in places like Costco won't even ring up alcohol before ten....about ten after, in fact.

Gigante, Cali-Max - don't sweat the penny differences. And while you're there, pick up your 10 cans of salsa casera which are 1/3 the price in the US, the canned mangos, fresh bolillos, Kahlua and some 1/2 and 1/2 to go with it - and tip the bag boy. Dontcha just love Baja

If you're talking about HERDEZ, I hope you meant less expensive here, as it should be since it's made here in Ensenada.
