tire sealant
hey folks, has anyone used amerseal (tire sealant)? you air down your tires all the way, pump in a certain amt. of goo and re-inflate. it is supposed
to fill in any punctures as the tire spins. is this worth doing?

Do you mean to add it in advance, before a problem? I would like to know if that would work as well.
I have only used it to seal a tire that is already leaking air, and it worked ok, would get the large can, the small ones dont seem to want to empty
out into the tire well.?

Almost all of the quad drivers down here use slime for their four wheelers. It works especially well for low pressure tires that are used out in the
desert and saves a lot of trips.

Slime works. I had 3 flat tires, all at once heading north of Santa Rosalillita. We slimed up, and was able to make it to the llantera in Rosarito
for repair.

yes, it is the product that you put in before a problem. it is very similar to slime, but made for cars, trucks, vans, etc. heard great things...

Slime works for preventing leaking air from punctures, but its a sloppy mess to change that tire in the future.
Fix a flat works good for inflating a tire and sealing the puncture that caused. Large tire = large can.
Always take a compressor and plug kit...always
No worries

Yep....Fix-A-Flat has saved my culito many times although I did find out that the guys working in the llantera really dislike the stuff when they tear
into a tire for repare. It's messy.

Good Advice Curt! Most repairs can be fixed with a good plug kit....

Most of the race teams use Liquid Starch as a tire sealant. 12oz. should do the trick...

When I check the sites mentioned, the products claim to be for tubed tires. Are they limited to that?

Tire shops hate emergency sealant. I carry 3 or 4 in my truck and always one in my other cars.

Those cans of gunky stuff have weight, which is probably dynamic and may not be evenly distributed around the tire, so I've always wondered how that
would effect the wheel balance at highway speed. Like Curt63, et al, I carry a tire plug kit and a compressor.
