Will La Paz INM office post FM2 renewal status online?

We turned in all the paperwork for Fm2 renewals in La Paz and I've been checking the INM website to follow the progress. For the first few days their site showed our applications were moving through the system but there hasn't been any progress for 5 days.

Does La Paz keep their website updated with the current status of your FM renewal as it goes through the approval process? We were told they'd be ready in 10-14 days and we're on day 12. It's a long drive to La Paz- should we wait until the website says the cards are ready or just return on day 14?

Yes, to a point. They post the progress and then when they need you to come to the office, they will say so on the web page.

I can't find the website URL in my notes just yet, but I I will find it later today and post it if someone else hasn't by then. At the INM office when you go in, they will give you a form with an ID, a username and password. This is a very important form as it is what they ask for on your subsequent visits for the renewal. Just ask them for the website URL to go to, to get the updates. It's pretty straight forward and easy to do.

http://www.inm.gob.mx/index.php/page/Seguimiento_de_Tramite

Our apps seem to be stuck on step #4 which says to pre-register, click "here" and when I click, there's a message saying "you've already printed this page". I'm guessing this pre-register form is the Formato Basico which we turned in with the all the docs.

I was wondering if La Paz uses their website more loosely than other INM offices on the mainland that require folks make 3 or 4 trips to the office during their renewals. If you got the message to return to the office MitchMan, I'll wait and see what happens. Thanks.

I hadn't thought about "working days" and the holiday , thanks Kate.

The cards expire Sept 23 and we submitted the renewals 2 weeks prior. I wasn't sure if we have to pick up the new ones before the 23rd (if they'll be ready?) Otherwise I'm not in a big hurry.

I renewed my FM2 last June in La Paz and it did take the full 10 days to 2 weeks for the "favor de presentarse a la ventana" message to show up on the website. As Morgaine says, the holiday could add a couple of days to your wait.

When you go to check on the website, be sure to enter the correct code or codes to pull up your file. There is a 'pieza numero', a NUT (numero unico de tramite, and a 'contrasena' which appear on the papers generated from the website when you register - just be sure to enter exactly what they ask for. Maybe that's why you are stuck on step #4, which doesn't seem right at all - if you are already registered, you obviously don't want to pre-register.

I would call them if you haven't got the "come to the window" message in the next week.

Update

The La Paz office of INM did not keep their website updated to track the progress of our FM2 renewals online. Mine had 4 entries and my husband's had only 3 and they went no further and they never got to the "return to the office" stage.

I posted my original question on the Yahoo "La Paz Gringos" newsgroup also and a very nice man, Angel Arteaga, (who provides immigration and translation services) offered to check on our renewals while he was at the office, no strings attached. This saved us a extra 10 hour RT drive if we had to keep checking in the office ourselves.

Angel reports that our documents are ready. I'd like to pass along Angel's contact info (Perfect english, professional, and seems very nice) : angelmcmlxxx@yahoo.com

Oladulce - thanks for the update and the contact info. Glad to see that your documents are finally ready. I can only guess that perhaps things got a bit disorganized when the office moved to the new location.......?

Save yourself some hassle and hire Angel next year. If you are looking for or expecting organization at this office, especially computer updates in a timely manner, you will be disappointed. Luck of the draw and a 10 hour drive doesn't make sense.

There's a post on Mexico Connect forum about a current glitch on the INM website which is the cause of the erroneous message you get when checking the status of your FM renewal online. So it's not just the La Paz who's not keeping up on their website. If you're renewing soon you may want to inquire about this when you submit your paperwork.

I don't understand what the subdelegado would have to do with INM.

One is municipality the other is federal....

picture seem to have been a problem for a while.

Yes, the photo must show your natural hairline. Some photo services seem to know that and others don't, but INM is rejecting photos that don't comply.
