Just a quick note before I go...
I emailed Mario Alonso a couple weeks ago about installing an up-dated Hughes 7000s modem that was mailed to my US address. He got back to me
promptly and we set a date for later this fall.
Him and Wayne did my Hughes.Net sat-internet work for many, many years. Always a pleasant experience.
the email address shown above is correct.
Dunno about the other cases mentioned, but sure hope this helps.
absinvestor...I will have wi-fi just south over the hill..in Coyote Bay...you can use it free for checking your stocks later this fall.

My pleasure to help, Ron. And many thanks for the gracious offer.
But forget the Hughes bill...it's %^$# outrageous anyway at $69 a month ...and makes me drink rum whenever I get one...
I'll settle for a firm handshake and a cold one on your beach...
UNLESS YOU HAVE ACCESS TO BANANA SPLITS!!!

Pompano- we bought Tom and Ruth's place at El Burro. Stop by anytime for a cold one. Unfortunately, the freezer won't freeze ice cream (at least this
time of the year) so unless we meet in town we'll have to enjoy looking at the one you are eating in the picture!! Ron and Patty

Hey, congratulations on a great piece of Paradise On The Beach! I've been there a few times with Co-pilot and some other amicos from Italy who have a
place over at Naranjos. You're setting sail for some good times ahead...bon voyage.
You know, I just remembered an ice-cream wagon that came by Ana's while we were playing poker there last spring. We'll flag him down for sure. Hasta
pronto and welcome to the Bay!

Sorry, missed this topic until just now.
To follow up on a few posts in this thread:
a) Everything comes from the US via San Diego. We can deliver parts and systems to Mulege and most other Baja cities.
b) Mario has been largely unavailable. I tried to use him for a couple of installs but could not get a response. Heard that he is wrapped up in school
and has some other issues.
c) Max/Starband may be backing off Baja since Starband changed satellites and reduced footprint here. I'm also a certified SB installer but I don't
keep track of it.
d) We have an installer in Loreto. It's a ways but he'll come up if someone covers his travel time to/from. I can also support self-installs with
remote consulting services.
e) HN7000S modems work with 1 and 2 watt transmitters. The 2 watt transmitters are shipped with the larger 0.98 and 1.2 meter dishes and support
higher service levels.
f) There are some HughesNet rebates I can help you get because I can activate new service directly through my HughesNet dealer account. We also assist
with existing accounts; remote troubleshooting, parts, satellite reassignments, reactivations, etc.
g) Thanks for the positive nods. I really appreciate it, and don't take it for granted.

I agree. I can install, have done my own and worked with Wayne but I am retired and don't want to do it as it gets in the way of my fishing. I have
talked on numerous occasions with Alan and he is by far the best deal going down here now.
I think the equipment for sale in San Lucas is from the Orphanage which closed their doors and therefore may be a pretty new system as it was put in
within the last few years. You may want to have someone take a look at that equipment and make sure the price is right.
Welcome to Baja Absinvestor, I left Colorado years ago and knew that when I gave away my snowshovel that I was where I wanted to be.

That info is correct, I believe...I was going to buy it for a RV install, but changed directions...and continents!
Welcome to the wide world of wringing your hands over sat-woes.
edit to add:
Come November, I can report back on Mario's participation.

Well, I made it back to Coyote. And had contacted Mario via email to tell him I would arrive Nov 8th. He mailed back that he would ready for the
Hughes re-connect for the season...with my new upgraded 7000s modem from Hughes Co. (I usually put my account on hold for 6 months a year to save a
few hundred bucks while I am not using it.)
I was a little late driving into Mulege on the 8th, but there was Mario in his old, grey pickup/topper..waiting on the highway next to the higway
Pemex just south of Mulege.

He followed me to the casa in the Bay and we immediately got down to brass tacks...and then...Carumba!
We could not find my new 7000s modem...dang it.
We tore the motorhome AND boat apart..nada.
Mario made two separate trips to mi casa on the 8th and 9th to try various modems that he had...no luck there, either.

Second visit with novia.

Very weird event...maybe Murphy's Law? I somehow have misplaced my new Hughes 7000s modem that the company sent to my address Up North.

Can't quite figure out what happened to it, though? I packed it into one of the motorhome's basement compartments when Up North..and saw it was still
there upon my arrival in San Diego.
While at the RV resort I stayed at in San Diego, those compartments were unlocked, but I highly doubt anybody would heist it...as it would not be any
good to anybody but myself, being programmed to my account, codes, etc. At least that is MY understanding?
Besides, there were far more expensive items in those compartments that would catch a thief's eye before a cardboard box from Hughes.
A full set of Big Bertha & Callaway golf clubs for example...Note: which I now would gladly make a partial trade for a 7000s modem! (Modem =
about $150, golf set = about $1500. Addictions are expensive!)
Whatever the case, stolen or just lost, the fact remains that I am missing the 7000s modem and the house is without internet service at the moment.
WANTED: I am looking for a usable, working, 7000s modem if anyone has one...loaner, for sale, for trade, whatever?
I sent an email to BCSTech in the hopes they can provide me with one..and install. I'm keeping all my fingers and toes crossed. It's a real pain to
make a 30-mile round trip to get online. And worse yet to make a 1300 mile round trip to San Diego to get another modem.
And that's my tale of woe for today. Anybody got any help or advice for me?
I'm hunting down Murphy of Murphy's Law...and strangling him.
I do what the voices in my tackle box tell me.
