Trip Ideas For Northern Baja?
Heading down from San Diego for 3 days to Northern Baja. The plan is to keep it simple, camp, and maybe go somewhere new. Anyone have any ideas?
I'd prefer somewhere I can surf, but I'm not opposed to heading inland. I'm trying to stay south of Ensenada and north of El Rosario due to lack of
time, which really restricts the options. Any input would be appreciated!

Thinking after Thanksgiving so the surf may be cleaning up!
Not opposed to camping at La Jolla. Never camped there before.
Thanks guys! Keep 'em coming.

Give Erindira a try if you have not in the past. If it gets real cold, stay at Cal's cheap.

Thanks all. I'm leaning towards San Q, as I've never stayed the night there except for at El Jardines. Also in the running is Punta Cabras, Punta
San Jacinto, or Camalu area. I wish I could just go to Salsipuedes.

If you go to SQ, you have to go to Cielito Lindo if you haven't been. Search for recent BN posts. Its a trip!

Salsi looks good. I've hooked up some good halibut right there in that surfline.
Or, if the surf builds and the weather system heading this way mellows it might be a good call at Villarino's. You could have them boat you out to
Todos and kill it. |
Unless Salsi has opened back up, that's off the radar. I dont have a boat. Guessing todos will be in the 15-20 foot range, short period range after
this storm, and I want none of that. Villarinos, where is that? Not by Thors Hammer is it? Clue me in.

On the coast with surfing - Erendira/Punta Cabra area - stay at Coyote Cal's for sure. You can camp or rent a room. It's a fun place and you always
meet some interesting people.
In the interior - try Rancho El Coyote for a truly old time Baja experience. Once again you can camp or get a room. The food is great, cooked on a
wood stove. You will be on a real ranch with a chance to explore.

There's a really nice place The Mona Lisa Resort (with website) which has RV, motel, house and duplex rentals and is directly on the beach. They are
pet friendly. The owner, Elisa, is from Jalisco and speaks English. They have 24 hour security (human and dog) so it's a safe place to stay. There
is a great restaurant nearby El Pescado or El Pescadero (can't remember the exact name) which has great and reasonably priced food. It is at Estero
Beach so away from the congestion of Ensenada.

Complete change of pace
The Cultural Center & Museum in downtown Tijuana is well worth a visit. Close to the border, good parking.
