the first gray whale babies are being born in Ojo de Liebre right now so by the end of January, this lagoon will have lots of wee ones for you to play
with. I will be guiding a trip the last weekend of Jan...either the 26th or the 30th if anyone wants to join us...also some nomads getting a trip
together on Feb.19th and of course on my birthday extravaganza on March 3rd if anyone wants to sing along.

We stopped by Kuyima's (laguna San Ignacio) on Wednesday and there was only now whale on the entire bay. However, we stocked up on their hats, shirts
and sweats for gifts, (as you know they are the hottest shirt in Baja).
We then drove to Ojo Libre and they had about a dozen males hanging around, and they were sort of skittish...about 40 feet away. We saw 3 tails, two
flukes, and one bye-bye with the swim fin. The rest were just body shots. Although one whale hung around our boat for 15 minutes...just keeping an eye
on us.

I have seen a few humpbacks near the beach here in TS. Paddled my kayak within 10 ft of one last week off Palm Beach. But numbers are really down this
year. There should be many many more. You normally will see 5 or 6 from a 10 minute wave scan from the beach at dawn but this morning I did not see
one while surfing for 2 hours. And no greys yet. I heard a rumour that a humpback breached 2 miles off of Cerritos last weekend and landed dead center
on a kayaker, sinking his/her boat. They had to swim in.

Great! They should be well settled in San Ignacio by the time we get there this year. Thanks
