Skype Problems

I cannot call to a Mexican cell from my skype program. When I punch in #'s starting with 044646......., with Mexico selected as the country calling to (calling from within MX, same city) the Skype changes the dailing number to: 5244646....... . As you can see, 52 is added; the "0" in front of the 044 is deleted, and the call does not go thru and ring.
Frustrating.

Are you registered with skype as a USA user? If so then skype thinks you are calling from the US and you would need to put in all the necessary country codes to call Mexico from a US telephone. If you are registered as a Mexican user then I have no idea why you are having problems.

Hola O.G. you don't need the 044 to Skype a MX cell #. The #'s should read 52-1-646........

Yes I agree with guero, it's different than calling a cell from a landline. I don't know why. Took me a lot of goggling to find that out.

Nope, still cannot call a cell # in MX with skype. Started with 52-1-646 etc.; then tried to enter 011 first; then tried every possible combination -- no joy. Gotta go to the marina office I guess. But there has to be a secret somewhere... .

Calling a Mexico Cell Phone with Skype

Anyone who has tried to call a Mexico cell phone with Skype has run into problems. The simple solutions is to call in this format

Mexico Cell phone dial: + 52 + 1 + area code + number

This will solve any problems when making a call to a Mexican
cell phone from Skype. It may also help with other VOIP services
like Vonage.

This has worked for me.

BINGO! My trick was to first dial "01", then the area code, etc. The skype program then converts it to 52-1-area code and I connected. Gheesh, what a learning curve... .:bounce:
